Are the aliens telepathic? Could they have pulled off making the crew blow up that ship?

Yes. They are telepathic and they could have done it and you know from Michael and Cody that they did infact do it.

They did not know about Earth though. If they had they would have attacked before you had made the Enterprise. They would have also realized that you guys just now got the capability of going to their planet and couldn't have been the ones that 'invaded'. They are pretty powerful telepathically, but in a different way than humans, and haven't used the ability to scan the stars the way Cody and Michael have been doing.

Yes they are telepathic...Sorry about that, I thought I had been more clear on that point.

You mentioned that the aliens saw "our" appearance 8 years ago. That was 1992 in our timeline - was there a special event? Did we all have a meeting or anything that might hint at a possible divergence or anamoly 8 years ago?

Nothing special at all happened 8 years ago human time.

Damn that's freakin complicated. Lets just put it this way. It wasn't future you who did the deed with the aliens. I say this to keep you guys from taking too much time going off an a tangent that I'm not sure how to get you back from.

Sorry bout that, Fox... It wasn't my intention but for a moment I had this vision... just forget about it. I'm glad its not like I thought it was (though it may still be worse than I assumed). +sigh+

I hope I am not pushing you guys too much by giving away too many things, but my fear was that the possibilities were just too many and I didn't want you to flounder around for a long time before finding the right trail. Unless you go off chasing wild geese, I think I'm done pointing out the quarry like a hunting dog for now.

Thank you. Roll playing Mega-Int is a challenge. With a little information I tried to present a profile that would narrow things down to a handful.

But in many ways what Steve is trying to do is a lot easier than whatever Mr. X had to do. Knowing that something can be done is often half or more of the solution.

Know that it's a trick, remember that it's a trick, believe that it's a trick. Then... you start from there.

For the most part only politicians and telepaths themselves are the only ones that regularly undergo scans. Others like the department heads and go-fers that Steve mentioned generally only undergo scans upon taking such a position and then it tends to be only a cursory scan to detect ill intent and then don't have to submit to other scans unless they get a promotion to a position of higher responsibility. A skilled telepath with some thought discipline could get through such a scan.

I'll restate again... the chromatics were not low-tech. They were modern, but they had not even put thought into space travel as they had no desire to leave their planet. That is until 8 years ago. Now their entire race is focused on that project. But they did have modern tech before the 'invasion'.

yes, but it wasn't very impressive biotech, certainly not in this kind of league. All they had to do was ramp up to the level they needed. Again, they had to have help with the ideas/knowledge of how to do it, but it didn't require physical intervention.

Guys, I've given you all the info I think you need and it looked like you were narrowing options down and about to form a plan then things just stopped. Where do we stand, are you waiting on something from me? I'm waiting on you guys to decide on something to try.

Ok, before I write my report I want to make sure to include all our knowledge.

I'm telling the President that we've found out that there is a third alien species involved which manipulated those aliens that destroyed the Enterprise to put all their efforts into space travel over the last 8 years, although they had been reluctant to it before. Since their nature (speaking of the aggressors who destroyed the Enterprise) is extremely xenophobic the "manipulators" which are the Chromatics (? I'm not sure here, may be a language thing but I had my difficulties telling the two parties apart) knew that they would attack us because they won't allow any alien authority in their space. Fortunately they don't know where earth is, else they would've attacked right away.

Now we suspect that there is an Alien (Chromatic) or maybe human recruited spy who managed to infiltrate our spaceprogramme and relay all information and knowledge about the Enterprise to the xenophobics.

Please help me out, I don't want to screw this one up, because I got difficulties understanding who is who in this complot. Sorry smirk

The manipulators are not the Chromatics. The Chromatics are the ones that attacked the Enterprise, the ones who are being used.

There are agents in our space program that provided all the details of our program to the Chromatics. We don't yet know if they are human agents, or aliens disguised as humans. One other possibility is that the manipulators are telepathic enough to have just stolen the knowledge of our tech from us without the need of agents.

Also these manipulators would represent a 4th discovered species. The Qin and the COalition have waaaay different tech and besides are too busy doing their own thing in totally different sectors of the galaxy and furthermore don't know about humans yet...

Since you haven't told people about either of those (as far as I know) they'd be 3rd. Mass Drivers, Chromatics, and now these manipulators.

Unless the Mass Drivers are the manipulators...

Not saying that they are, but it is a possibility.

Fox if I may suggest ...

You may want to start a thread with all of the knowledge we have of the various extraterrestrial speices we know about (or think we do) to gather all the facts in a clear single location

Sort of like how I try to keep my NPC thread for PR updated as you guys learn stuff.

That way at least everybody can be clear about what we know about the chromatics, the watchers, etc etc

Quick note for Andrew...we didn't jump into the Chromatics system. In fact AFAIK, we jumped FAR away from where they should have been...Cody and Michael have enough Influence that they steered the space program away from first contact until suc time as Earth would be ready for this sort of thing. Oh well...the best laid plans...

Well that's my point - there has been a lot of information thrown out by Fox, some of it through PCs, some through NPCs. A single official source for everything we know about the chromatics would help to reduce/remove the confusion that has gripped at least a couple of us.

How do you mean a single source? Theoretically everything you know has come through Cody and Michael with the exception of the technology issue. You are the one that made that discovery.

What do you need for things to be clear?

Well as an example they were initially described as "a tribal species, with primitive tech an no prior knowledge of space travel." Later you clarified that they are just as advanced as we are except for space travel which they have rapidly developed.

While I am fairly solid about most of the detail information is now spread over 4 pages of posts and difficult to find, a collected post from you would just help to alleviate further mistakes down the road.

In that case I strongly support Andrews idea. Just to keep things a bit more sorted and to avoid misunderstandings. I had some trouble making my report because of that. I had to ask if I got everything right, partly because I couldn't put together which pieces of information belonged to which species (also because of a language thing - I translated some stuff completely different).

I sometimes feel silly since Joani has M-Int 1 and I can barely live up to that.

Courier - this timeline never went to full development of nucular weapons. I saw to that personally by hoarding all fissionable materials on the moon until there was no risk. The theory was put forth and possibly proved on a small scale but beyond that bupkiss.

Fox correct me if I am wrong on this. But there would be no facilities built for this purpose, Andrew will need to do everything on the fly.
