So basically he got on a plane to go to LA right after the Maid lost Joani? How does that jibe with what she told us? Could we be looking at an attempted palance coup?

Another question, I'd guess that if we went to his place in NY, we'd find a picture or two of him. Would that help Cody do his thing?

Sorry for the confusion. Lorean first found the records that he took flight to America under the original name you had for him. He arrived in New York. From there he immediately took flight to LA under the Harold Green name. He was in the LA when you captured the Maid, in other words he was there before you guys met with Joani this morning.

Also, the maid didn't lose Joani, she left her intentionally to see what would happen, thinking to lie low and see who turned up to contact her, thus gaining more intel on who was in the cabal. Her overconfidence was her undoing.

Also, Cody has more than enough already to pinpoint Harold with Michael's assistance, even without knowing he is in LA.

Ah! Now it all comes into focus. Her big mistake, which was understandable but still huge, was thinking we wouldn't pick up on the 'multiple-bodies' aspect of her.

Hmm... you know, that's not a bad move with what she was working with. Without the example of ScarCrow (and others) what she was up to wouldn't have been obvious. She's probably the only nova on the planet with this power (given that there are dozens rather than thousands of novas) so the obvious assumption is that it's both new and unheard of.

Harold is there at her direction then. If I were her, I wouldn't contact him in person wearing the maid's body, it has a one bullet lifespan. And she couldn't have known exactly how long she'd be outside of Joani, so there's some flex time in our schedual.

So he shouldn't be expecting that it's all gone bad.

Good. Go get him.

Not getting representation further reduces her chance of survival, but no system is perfect.

For future use, we could use for the Tribunal: Race of Defendant, Race of Victim(s), and a Random Special.
In our case, the sheer number of baseline victims outweighs our one nova victim.
We are also going to need to look on how to create a professional Tribunal members amongst the legal profession. This should be easier in the EU and CAC than the US.

Let's move forward with this matter.

While in theory this works in practice I think we should try to retain a Nova, Baseline, and Psiad as the tribunal make-up. Even if it is a Nova on Nova crime all portions of society need to be represented.

Alternately we could use a 5-man panel, with 1 baseline, 1 psiad and nova being compulsory and the 4th and 5th being member of the plaintif's and defendant's category.

Re: Daredevils

It has been stated by the developer that Daredevils are just regular people with extraordinary skills and/or abilities, they are not superhuman. As for Max, we know he is unquantifiable but do the PCs?

RE: Max
We have Aeon's future files. He's not in any of the normal groups but he's obviously a super.

RE: Daredevils
The developers disagreed on this point. One point of view was that they were just normals, the other was that they were probability manipulators (with Max being an extreme example). They move sideways in time.

It may be a moot point if we have no way to figure out who is and who isn't one.

RE: The Tribunal
I'm torn on this issue. In theory I'd like to see a mix. It sends the right message I think.

On the other hand some powers make some people ideal for judges. Max's Lie Detector example for example, although I think both Psions and some of the other inspired can do that too. There's a LOT to be said for having professional judges and not "a random special".

Maybe more to the point, some nova powers are going to make some baseline judges very twistable. Mega-Manip and the other social abilities stand out as problems. A nova abuses a baseline with Mega-Manip. Because the victim is a baseline so is one of the judges, and that judge will always find in favor of the defendant?

Much, much worse, in our current case Max couldn't find a psion who fit the bill. They are rare, or at least hard to find, and in this case the ones he could get were vulnerable to being nailed with domination. Theory gets trumped by fact.

Lets keep in mind that Psionic Telepathy has abilities that are very powerful in their own right, and in many ways allow for effects like some of the mega socials. Phermone control allows a biokinetic to do similar things as well.

Basically we need to decide if a superhuman can be allowed to use their abilities in their own defense and similarly can a superhuman use their abilities in their capacity as judge?

Max was worried that the Psion if they tried to use mind probing powers would open themselves to being taken, but since the defendant will be represented by hologram it is not an issue.

I've set the scene. Hope everyone approves. I went with 1 nova, 1 psiad, and Max standing in for the baseline since one could not be found at short notice.

Oh, I don't know what a good scientific name for homo sapien Psionus would be so I went with what I did, and I can edit that later if we come up with a better name.

Good stuff.

And I think the next post is yours... unless you want Steve or someone to let the Maid know she's on trial?

Fox, in all likelyhood I will not be able to get access to the net this weekend as is usual for me. If you can have Andrew called to testify last (if he gets called at all) I'd appreciate it so as to not hold up everybody else.

have a good weekend guys

The judges will speak with the defendant, but won't call any other witnesses unless they specifically request to speak with the tribunal. I'm going to go ahead and prepare a post. If anyone is itching to jump in on the trial feel free. If you don't respond before I post I can always retract my post and edit. Otherwise, we will assume that the trial takes about 3 hours total which will give the other folks plenty of time to capture Harold.

BTW, Cody, are you not employing Michael in your attempt? You made no mention of it in your post.

I was just asking since you hadn't mentioned it. Please post that you've found him and that he is in the hotel where you picked Joani up. Unless you tell me you are going to try overcoming his mind from orbit, I will assume you only locate him. He does seem to be radiating some agitation.

Steve, you are up in the courtroom. Please explain to the tribunal about 'promising' her new bodies and what that is all about.

I know Omar wanted to get in on the action since he's been sitting round while you all have had your adventures, so let him take the lead on this. The door to the hotel room will not be an issue to someone with Omar's strength. Also, Omar has been given a dart pistol as well, but Michael disdained to carry a weapon. The three of you are all that are there, but Morgan is standing by for an emergency warp should it become necessary.

So is Omar going through the door, or the wall? Neither would be a problem for him?

I think the decision was wall. Go for it big guy. It is a standard but upscale hotel room. He has only basic personal belongings with him and he has dark hair and eyes, and is of medium build wearing fairly expensive clothes.

There you go guys, the verdict has been handed down. This was happening while Cody and Omar were on the planet, they have the time to finish their mission before they catchup with the events on the ship.

Heh, Cody has been waiting to play with his 5 dot gadgets for over a year. Hope you aren't disappointed in the short combat but they were only hired baseline muscle and not too bright even if they hadn't been programed to rush in and attack any threats.

Now it is up to you guys to decide how to dispose of the sphinx quickly since she is actively killing the body she is in.

Breaching her defenses required maxxing. She had 10 will and 10 auto successes from shield. Plus I figured the drugs had her only partly under otherwise you wouldn't be able to do what you wanted her to do. Cody, you are up.

If Cody has disrupt (I'm not sure) those defenses could be somewhat lowered.

Is the "execution" of the maid public? I mean I attended the verdict - do I get to see what Cody and Michael do from there? I just want to know, before I post something.

I'd think it would be, except since we're talking about telepathic combat the real answer is "not really".

They are being recorded and broadcast to the bridge, but since it is telepathic action, all you see is the two men walk into the brig with the prisoner who appears to be asleep. They get a look of concentration on their faces, then a look of consternation. Then Michael says what he says, and they try again with looks of intense effort. I am waiting for Cody to post before continuing, but basically you will see an energy form emerge from the maid and hover in the air for a moment before dissipating.

Disorient basically drains willpower over the long term and prevents the use of rolled powers & other stats.
