The experiment went south as soon as the 'ignite' button was depressed. The team (Zephraine, Smite, Chronos, Allison, Quinn, Glean, and others) were supposed to vanish form sight as they were shot through time and space to a planet untouched by the Ban. The Orbs needed a safe harbor and the team needed some time to grow and become all they were intended to. But nothing happened save for Chronos dropping dead from some temporal paradox (which was not discovered for a few hours) and the rest of the team seemed to have an amnesia covering the last few weeks. Fortunately not a ripple was made from the accident that might be noticeable to Ba'laan.

Question was not something he was used to having in his mind; at least the Orbs were still safe in Eve. He would study the reports for another few weeks before 3 members of the team became sick and eventually died. Not having anything that could save them was yet another thing Asche was not used to experiencing. Zephraine, Allison and Smite were the last ones alive some 7 weeks later with no signs of illness, although they were being poked and prodded as much as they would allow as Lonn-Medical and Asche himself attempted to find a reason for their friends untimely deaths. Then the ban hit Earth full force and changed reality, or at least the way enlightened ones looked at it.

Missile silo's erupted into cataclysmic waves of annihilation taking miles of countryside with them. Military jets exploded in the skies and local law enforcement is crippled as police precincts blow up in similar waves of flame. Relative very few residential areas are stricken but scattered reports are in of houses exploding along with its occupants.
No Lonn Tech or Company property were affected by this but it was a blatant attack of the ban as it dealt death blows to all forms of AI, most forms of internal combustion engines, explosive weaponry, and artificial life (ie clones). This death blow resulted in an explosion usually tied to the size of the affected item. Earth would take over 12 years to recover partially from this. Asche would take longer as he lost his last favored people; Allison, Smite and Zeph all fell over in death on the same day. He never knew what it was that killed them and mourned them for a time. Eve, with the orbs in her abdomen was never seen again.

Reading the report form Kara about Heartsease walking away from us was the last bit of frustration that Asche needed today. He just had gotten word that Pax Con was meeting heavy resistance from Pultytes in Sardyrya and it would probably mean discovery by Ba'laan unless he pulled all his holding and men out. The time was not yet right so he made the painful decision of a strategic retreat and the men were just now filing out of the portal into Voids Guard. Yesterday he finally discovered that many of the Nova's he held near and dear to him, including Cin and Genine, were part of the resistance against him. They called themselves House Terra and resisted any attempts of aid from him and even went so far as to destroy some of his ships and storage facilities. Now Kara reports that the rumor Hearrtsease found of team 702 still being alive. His heart leapt as he thought of how many questions and concerns they must all have and of seeing them all again.

Problems arose in actually coming in contact with them face to face at this time; they had not yet activated the orbs by all reports and would be unable to prevent or even discern any uninvited eyes upon the meeting. Asche would have to send a message through Eve, if she was still functioning. Knowing the feeling of remorse or loss they all might have, he carefully worded a message for Zephraine. He would have to be the one to delegate the message once he received it.
