I am going to start one of the two following homebrew games over at RPGs Online, and I’m looking for one or two more players. Both games use the basics of the WW Storyteller system (World of Darkness version). Game-specific rules, including character creation, will be put online as soon as I see which game garners the most interest.

The original recruitment thread may be found here:

Let me know if you are interested in either - I’ll run the game with the most potential players. Teasers/ concepts follow - feel free to ask questions:

Chosen - a modern game of supernatural horror

The world, while superficially like ours, is home to beings of myth - quietly moving behind the scenes. Years ago, the protagonists were given a brief glimpse of the truth, developing a bond from this common experience. Now, they have been drawn back together to investigate a disappearance in their midst, and find themselves plunged into the shadows - finally seeing the world as it really is. The supernatural world begins to find them with increasing regularity, and they come to suspect that these events may be part of something larger - a harbinger of things to come.

The game will start out fairly tight in scope, with a small cast of NPC's. Later, the story may broaden, depending on how the plot develops. Most play will be restricted to Chicago and its environs. Play will be a mix between relatively familiar interaction with humans and near-humans and deeper forays into the supernatural world. The aforementioned ‘brief glimpse of the truth’ will be played as a prologue, skipping several years to the main story.

The style of play will be well within the realm of supernatural horror; this will be most pronounced in the supernatural sequences, but it is my intention to keep it as an undercurrent even in the more ‘natural’ sequences. This won’t quite be at the Lovecraftian everything-you-see-will-drive-you-insane level, but I am working in the same general area.

Halo - a future world of post-human conspiracy

"Homo sapiens, the first truly free species, is about to decommission natural selection, the force that made us. Soon we must look deep within ourselves and decide what we wish to become." - Edward O. Wilson

In the early years of the 21st century, humanity began to bridge the gaps between scientific disciplines, connecting new ideas and setting in motion an inevitable progression toward filling in the blanks in human knowledge. As the years passed, new discoveries were made: protein folding algorithms, room-temperature superconductors, ‘cool’ fusion. Each of these discoveries paved the way for more knowledge, more insight into the mechanics of the universe. Soon, a select portion of humanity began to exceed former limitations though the application of technology - the era of post-human development had arrived.

At the same time, other changes were taking place. As corporations grew larger, they began to put pressure on governments, pushing for free trade, relaxed immigration laws, and other concessions, as new technological advances connected everyone on Earth, achieving the goal of infinite bandwidth. The combination of global community and independent business was not good for most governments; over the decades, borders blurred and nations waned in power. Corporations began to build themselves into international law - in some cases becoming separate governments unto themselves. The metacorporations had arrived, and - in time - completely replaced traditional governments.

The year is 2104, and unseen factions are beginning to act. The first moves in a shadow war have been made - centering around the powerful, secretive Halo Corporation. The protagonists are caught up in the machinations of powerful individuals, and must make their own way; their path may lead to peace, to death...or to apotheosis.

The protagonists may be genetically engineered humans, artificial intelligences, humans enhanced either through cybernetics or biotechnology, or even normal humans. The characters will all begin as employees of Halo Corporation, which is known primarily for hiring out post-humans for security/ espionage work. Where you go from there is up to you.
