Maybe the topic should be called 'Getting Satisfaction'. Ok, so this opnet site is reserved for novas or I wouldn't post this, but I would like some advice.

Let me give you guys some background...

There was this girl. I was her best friend. I listened to all her problems. I let her cry on my shoulder when she was sad. I was there when she was happy. I was there when she was angry.

She would occasionally use me. Now and then when she didn't have any love interest she would snuggle up to me and we'd kiss and stuff. Then the next day she'd be all about some other guy again. It was really hurtful, so much so that I eventually erupted because of how she treated me. As you probably know from other threads I don't have really any powers to speak of. I got a little better looking, a little stronger, and a little smarter, but nothing approaching nova levels except for strength. (I was really angry and hurt when I erupted and took it out on a tree. I feel bad about the tree.) I went from a cute guy to a hot guy, but that's about all that changed.

Lots of girls at school are into me now because of the way I look, but I've been avoiding the one girl I really want. Here's the thing. I want her, but I really want her before I start developing obvious nova powers and abilities. I guess I want it to be ME that gets her not NOVA ME. Does that make any sense? She's the kind of girl that will go for me just because I'm a nova and I don't want to have her like that.

I've read some stuff and I know its a case of what the articles called 'unresolved sexual tension', but that doesn't matter, I want her to want me and I want her to want me because I'm me, not because I'm a nova.

So does anyone have any suggestions on how I should do this?

Drop the bomb on her. Tell it to her straight and do not sugar coat anything. Tell her it's because of her you erupted and why, and make sure you tell her you're tired of the way she treats you.

Tell her what you really want and expect from her and let her decide. You may end up ass out, but Fox, seriously, that's life.

In my more brutal opinion, she's not worth it. Find someone who doesn't pull the crap she does.

All I'd have to do to get her would be reveal myself as a nova and she'd break into raging thigh sweats, but I'd rather have her without that. I may be crazy for still wanting her, but I think if I could just get her to want me in return I'd be over her. Does that make an sense? Damn I hate to sound like such a puss.

Anyway, with improvement in looks and the way most of the other girls at school are looking at me I probably just need to stop avoiding her and she'll be interested. Least I hope that is all there is to it.

Date someone else. Enjoy it. Make it public. If you're serious about getting this girl to want you, even knowing she's only going to shred your heart into little pieces (masochist), you can't even hint at the fact that you're interested in her. She's a manipulator, and being up-front with her will only give her the leverage she needs to start abusing your goodwill again. Make her see how happy you are without her, and she'll be chasing you, for a change.

Even if she doesn't (though your description of her is pretty damning), you'll be having a good time with someone you like, enjoying your life, and getting yourself on the road to recovery from the bad mojo she's worked on you.

The only thing I'd add is make sure that this woman is as popular as her or more popular than her, so that she's forced to reassess your worth in her eyes. If you are with one of her peers, it makes you something worth having, in her eyes.

And as a last note, I will call you much worse than 'puss' if you break the other girl's heart. If you use her without consideration of her feelings, then you are as bad as the 'carrot'.

Alexis, I completely agree with you. I have no desire to use or abuse anyone just to get back at this girl. Still, I have been dating a lot more since I erupted just because I got a little better looking and upgraded my wardrobe. I haven't used anyone or done to anyone else what she did to me, it's just been going out like normal people do. I've also been completely ignoring Her and avoiding her since it then, so I guess I've kinda been following your advice too, Odysseus. I guess the next step would be to stop avoiding her and just ignore her instead. That will drive her nuts I think. Seeing me with other girls and not giving her the time of day will eat at her. Right now she's probably been cool with me dating others since I've still been obsessing over her by the avoidance. Negative attention is still attention as the teachers like to say.

I don't intend to be cruel, I just want to give her a small taste of what she's been doing to me for 3 years now. That and leave her wanting me rather than the other way around. What you do, is approach her and tell her that you are a nova. If she is like most teenagers, she will jump at the chance to date a nova. After a week, you break up with her. When she asks why, you tell her the truth: That she treated you like dirt before you erupted, and that you only dated her again to prove to yourself how shallow a person she really is. Also, tell her that if she had treated you with respect before your eruption, you and her would still be dating.

She may not learn anything, but she might learn to respect others. In the long run, it might make her a better person.
