That assumes that those weapons have been developed.

The world has been at peace for decades. Andrew went out of his way to stockpile fissionable materials prior to that to avoid a massive buildup of nukes. With nobody to fight and no reason to explore greater technology in blowing crap up I think it would be safe to say that earth is actually pretty limited in it's ability to create WMDs. I'd hate to be the guy who whipped one out and said, "I built this just in case."

As for turning our present power generation tech into offensive tech that's not going to be easy either. I'd say a traditional nuke would be our best bet in a limited timeframe.

I should also note that when it comes right down to it a few capable warpers are capable of far more destructive power by harnessing solar plasma directly from the local star. And that's not even a very original or "outside of the box" idea.

We had atomic power back in the 1950's. I *think* that implies enriched U. The difference between mildly enriched U and extremely enriched U is the amount of time it spends in the enricher.

Agreed.

Except that IMHO we don't want to give every warper a fusion nuke as part of their powers. I don't think that extra was created for that purpose.

I do...

That extra directly countermands the "pressure does not equalize" caveat of the original power.

Thus giving every Warper the ability to obliterate a planet.

I suspect that *if* we want it to work that way, then what we also have to say is Warp turns off if the nova creating it dies, and that a sun brust doesn't count as an environmental effect so adapt doesn't help on that first round. I.e. soak a nuke or die.

Hrm.

Tricky that one. Adapt would help with the rads. Even with the warp pointing away though the heat is going to be brutal. With a Mastery level Warper it makes more sense (as much as anything does at Q6...) since they can open a warp at extreme range.

the point is moot ATM because none of the PCs have Warp and thus it's ultimate deployable status is up to Fox

That said, a matter creator could easily be employed to create a substance that can react within the specific atmospheric mix of the chromatic homeworld which upon hitting a critical rate of reaction would result in a massive chain reaction which would "burn" the atmosphere right off the planet. Again hardly a new idea and a relatively reasonable application of a non-offensive power/tech.

Note - a neutron bomb would still do extensive damage to the shipyards and the ships themselves - they are not, as had been portryed in sci-fi, a weapon that only kills living targets. Nuetron bombs have roughly 10% of the blast yeild as a conventional nuke, which harnesses much of its neutron energy to enhance the blast itself.

Courier - can you please explain what you mean with this?

(OOC: (1) I'm going to assume the Paragons would be involved in this sort of thing but if they didn't then I would).

It's under your last post and I think I didn't catch it. Can you elaborate that for me?

Those three (i.e. the Riverblindness Worm, etc) are human parasites that inflict pretty horrible things on the human population.

In RL we are or have been actively attempting to exterminate them.

The Paragons were formed in the 1930's. Joani and Omar are their leaders. It's hard to see the Paragons not getting involved with something like that, i.e. the public health effects and (hopefully) good will to be generated would be huge. Malaria by itself is even now responsible for an insane amount of human suffering.

Steve's point is that the people in this room have deliberately worked to exterminate species before because they are heroes.

But if I'm wrong and the Paragons weren't involved in that, or if Joani and Omar weren't, then Steve certainly was. I think he said back in the 20's that getting rid of that blasted insect was one of his long term goals.

I'm assuming that at some point we had to come up with and make q-damper tech for nova criminals.

Fox, did we do the same for psions?

That was part of our 60 year plan I thought, part of the reason why Andrew and Courier became better freinds because Andrew wasn't willing to work on Q-damping by himself.

It was, it is, and we did. This may lead us back to trying node pings. We have at least *some* way to try to shut down q-users, but we don't think he's a nova and it's easier for psi-users to stay out of the way... so there's at least a little support for the idea that he's a psi-user. The question is whether or not we have a way to damp down a psi-user.

I think that would hurt our abiulity to question him later ...

In Trinity cannon "Taint" (which is actually Quantum) actually works to nullify psi activity. Now being that I trust that Fox is a smart man who undertstands that that is f-ing retarded I can assume that it will not be as simple as putting a psion in a room full of novas. Even still the best way to look at both Quantum and Psi is as enegry at the sub atomic and sub quantum levels respectively. As such a device to generate an active wave of psi or quantum energy to harness the principle of destructive inteferance to nullify the active quantum and psi energies put out by novas and psions.

Piece of cake!!

That's an area that in cannon is subject to multiple different explanations and normally it doesn't matter because it doesn't come up in game. Except that now it has and we've had 80 years of experience in dealing with this so we should have figured out something.

Occasionally we must have had criminal psions. If there *is* no way, even in theory, to shut them down then I want to know that. If there are ways in theory but in practice they don't work well then ditto. And if we have a cell block for them on the moon then I want to know that.

But granted, having to deal with a psion with Mastery is probably a new level of problem.

You have developed Psi-dampeners. There is a prison for Psi criminals. You also have a relatively small portable unit much like your original quantum device. When I say portable, I mean that Omar or Joani with their mega str could carry it, but it isn't really meant to be hauled about. Like the origninal q-device, it has limited power resources, and the stronger of a setting you put it on the more energy it is going to drain. On it's strongest setting it should be able to contain just about anyone as far as you know.

One thing that Omar would have learned recently, is that now that he is Q6, the Nova detention facility doesn't seem to quite dorm him completely down anymore. He still can maintain a slight degree of quantum control within the prison now. Not enough control to really accomplish much, but his strength is just a bit more than it should be for a baseline. It is possible that someone with Q7 might be able to actually use their powers even within the field.

Guys - I really don't know how to contribute right now. Assume that Joani is listening and waiting for her cue. She isn't of much use against Psi-Users. Only her enhanced senses could help.

Otherwise Joani would stay with the President - as promised.

Psi-users have no physical powers, so against most of them you just punch them in the jaw and that's it.

Not all Psions are telepaths either. Many of them, a majority actually have other abilities like Pyrokinesis, or Telekinesis, or things like that. There are lots more psion telepaths than nova telepaths though.

For reference there are maybe 40 thousand novas right now of which maybe 1000 have some kind of mind effecting power.

There are several hundred thousand Psions of which at least 100,000 have mind effecting powers.

Novas tend to be stronger in their powers and more versitle in their abilities. Psions tend to be more focused on one or two abilities and are weaker at them than the novas.

The fact that this spy could have killed Cody and fried Michael, should be ringing major alarm bells with you guys. That means either a very powerful Nova or a Psion that is off the charts.

In that regard I'm curious to know how powerful we are in comparison to the "average"? I have a good idea how powerful I am in relation to the other PCs, but I have no idea how powerful I am in relation to any Nova out there.

Psi users are mostly built like novas except with less points and they can't have any power that requires or manipulates taint (thus no Q5-min powers).

They also can't have any physical megas at all and are limited (I think) to 2 dots in the mental megas and the actual powers.

They can never get tainted, and they don't have "the nova physic", and their powers don't show up on node pings or anything else that detects quantum.

So they're hard to spot but they have a glass jaw. Joani's psi-shield would work as normal, ditto her mega-strength, and they can't built bricks.

My impression is that the average nova starts with 20 nova points. So we're a lot stronger than average and we've been using our powers a lot longer. Mike is an obvious exception however.
