History:
Sujatmi Rais admits to coming from the poverty-ridden slum district of Denpasar in Bali, her mother being a prostitute and sweatshop worker, and her father being one of the clients. The lack of details about her background comes not from a deliberate attempt at subterfuge, but the fact her first official documents date from the age of fifteen, when she was formally adopted by prominent Christian and Chinese businessman Harold Rais and his wife Leah; according to Sujatmi, her 'father' had been one of her real mother's regular customers and had taken her in out of pity. Attending the International School in Bali and completing a Bachelor of Languages and Linguistics (Japanese) at the University of Malay in Malaysia, she chose to enter law enforcement in 2001, becoming one of the few female detectives in Bali's narcotics unit. When she added a Masters of Law from her alumni in late 2003 and busted a Heavenly Thunder Triad soma ring at the same time, Interpol approached her as an agent for the Asia/Pacific region.
Sujatmi has been with them ever since. Her eruption is documented to have taken place during what is referred to in international law enforcement circles as 'the Green Smoke Fiasco', where half a dozen agents from three different agencies tried to apprehend the Triad nova nicknamed Green Smoke in San Francisco's Chinatown. Sujatmi erupted about three seconds before an ambush took place; it was her intervention which saved the agents' lives that day.
Since then, she's acquired a $USD bounty of one million dollars on her head because of her active war against soma producers. Known defeats of Triad novas include Shining Mountain, a second run-in with Green Smoke, and an ambush believed to be ordered by the Silver Ho.
