I agree with some of what you've said Odysseus, but somehow that last remark came across as being somewhat paranoid. I am friends with a few of these "mega-smart [people]" and I haven't seen anything to make me believe they represent a threat of any kind (a potential threat certainly, but I think that could be said for any of us).
Still, like you, I am also interested in hearing some explanations for the Teragen belief system.

Everyone will want you, your services, or just your input. In the end, it is all about choice. Eventually you'll have to make one. I think you have to remember that you'll have to make sure you go in with eyes open.

I think you just explained my problem with the Teragen, as well as with a lot of the reactions I've gotten since eruption. I'm still just Sean, only with a dead mother and a reputation for failing to exert control over a lethal array of powers. I'm not anyone special, at all.

Dunno if you could call what they do "violence". They're really kinda pussy about it. I've seen six year olds in the schoolyard approach a dust-up with more balls than those dorks.

Well-stated, Sean, Odysseus. My response to that question is pretty plain: it's for the same reason that you don't throw your mentally decrepit away to live in ape families. Hell, it's the same reason you don't throw your children away to live with apes. Not that I'm comparing either of you - or any of us - to retarded children. I'm certainly not the smartest nova on the block. But we all have that potential, just like we all have the potential for a practically infinite lifespan And just because Nova A hasn't yet unlocked the mysteries of the universe whereas Nova B has an admirable head start, it doesn't mean we can't or won't all get there one day. In fact, divorcing ourselves from a baseline environment that demands our stagnation and mental mediocrity in order to be understood could do much to help promote that growth.
