Stage #1: Andrew, Lorean, and a Brick set up the damper. Lorean monitors the telephone system, when we know for sure that he's on the phone in his office Steve and Amber show up in the office above/below/whatever and start making arrangements for the meeting tomorrow. Over the course of the meeting Steve runs about 50 node pings (2.5 minutes by my math).

Assuming they don't show anything we'll assume he's a psion (he can't be a dormed nova and mentally kill Cody).

Also Stage #1.0: Get legal authority from the prez.

Stage #2: As for picking him up, we'll install a camera so the meeting can be televised and Lorean will hack the system.

Purpose of the meeting: To publically anounce several new contracts (anything that brings Billions with a "B" of money to a company demands cake and ice-cream) and hold a question and answer session about where we are and what has happened. Right now that crew must be wondering if their jobs are safe because of everything that has happened (lose of Enterprise, creation of Lorean). A meeting of this nature is more or less expected.

You misspelled that. It should be spelled with a capital Q as in QUADRILLIONS. The Prez is shifting then entire output of the human species onto space/defense/offense, in that order. The human economy is about to shift into the greatest period of expansion and prosperity it has ever seen. The Government has amassed a huge surplus over the last few decades and is about to open the purse strings and start pouring money into the economy. Yes, it's going to mean some inflation, but there are mega-int financial geniuses out there to keep things from going off the deep end. Of course, in 20 or 30 years when things slow down it will seem terrible to the average person, but in reality it will be back to current standards.

Definately time for cake and ice cream and movie cameras then. smile

I used to work for a fortune 500 and this sort of thing happened every few years. The difference being that it had to be pumped in since our CEO would be at an important site... of course since this is the important site even that's not an issue.

And we'll have a security team (who knows litterally nothing about what's going to happen) step in after the anouncement. I'm expecting that if things go poorly and he sends the kill switch a quarter of the crew might go nuts.

Sorry about that Joani, I edited in the part about the Prez while you were posting.

I moved it to the lower post so it makes more sense.

Won't Iron Will prevent someoen from wiping out Omar's mind or killing him that way? I was under the impression that it does. (with an expediture of Willpower of course)

Iron Will protects from control...doesn't do jack for a mind blast though. Wouldn't be surprised if its an agg blast too...

Would the Impervious extra help. I know it is for his armor, but it would be just like the Hardbody Enhancement. Not sure if it would change the damage to lethal or not, but it would still cause a lot of damage.

He might need Impervious to his Psy Shield. It is something I have been thinking about getting for Omar.

Maybe. Maybe not. If Iron Will requires an action and isn't reflexive, then he still gets one solid Telepathic hit... and if he's playing around with Mastery then that's probably enough. In theory he could be throwing around 17+ succ, so after mental defenses and willpower opposition he's still got 12.

Iron Will would curb stop Domination (your first action is spent breaking it rather than following it). But Telepathy might mind wipe you and Mental Blast either deeply KO's you (doing lots of brain damage) or (more likely) slays you out right.

Impervious wouldn't do anything here because Armor does nothing. It rocks against Energy or Physical, but this isn't either.

Similarly, INV:Physical+Impervious wouldn't help against an Armor Piercing Q-Bolt (Energy) attack because the defense never gets used to start with.

And note that while Hardbody (or Psi-Shield+Imp) presumably would drop a Mental-Blast+Agg effect back into just a normal Mental-Blast... but that doesn't reduce the shear number of succ he's got. We've seen normal Mental Blast do brain damage after the bashing damage wraps around and with 12+ succ over defenses that's a real problem.

(Making lots of assumptions that might or might not be correct)

Mind you, my expectation is that in straight combat you'll destroy him, if you're willing to destroy him.

In physical combat he's got a glass jaw and the defenses of a baseline. He's also slow, low init. So the two of you appear, combat starts...

...and you either kill him or give him a chance to surrender you wait for him to kill one of you. Thing is I don't think Joani will kill right out of the starting gate and I'm not sure if Omar will or not.

Joani wouldn't go for a kill. She never would. But she has Hypermovement and Quickness - I don't know how much Immobilize would freeze him up? Would it just affect his movement or would it put him mentally on hold, too?

Just physically. It doesn't suppress powers or do damage.

And Hypermovement and Quick aren't really needed here (assuming you're close enough to close with him), enhanced init is the real killer.

In a fair fight our team doesn't have any good defenses against his ace (mental attack), but he doesn't have any defenses against our attacks either (physical attack). So it all comes down to who goes first.

He very likely has a Dex and Wits of 2, so he's got a base init of 4. To put that in perspective Steve has a base init of 13, and he has mega-dex so he wins ties.

More seriously I expect it isn't going to come to this. Steve has enhanced senses that say he automatically notices anyone scoping in on him, even telepathically. And that's ignoring that we aren't even going to be in the same room, and both of those are over and above Amber's precognition.

We *REALLY* want to avoid a fair fight so that's what we're doing. Those dampers will take Mastery off the table... and without Mastery our normal defenses should be fine. Better still, Cody and Mike can probably still use their powers in a Psi-Nulled area.

Watch yourself Courier, you are making assumptions based on the cannon psions from trinity. We don't know for sure just how Fox has his Psions working in this game, they may be more like a psiad in which case they are fully capable of buying powers from multiple Aptitudes. Or he could be using the Aberrant rules for psiads from the players guide. Either way enhanced Init, precog abilities, and physical defences etc may be open to these guys.

Further even w/o access to aptitudes outside of TP I seem recall that a telepath was able to passively detect intent in a 6th sense kind of way. That alone may give him the init boost needed to pop a skull or two.

Hell while I'm worrying I ought to point out that Fox might just be tossing the Doyen at us, in which case we have grossly underestimated our foe.

Big time. What I put up there should be considered the best case, but it does have the advantage that it explains why they're so careful with novas.

Something else to consider here too, we're not dealing with a generic psion (who by the way can spend transformation points on Dex and Wits to increase their init). We're dealing with an actual alien.

So far said alien hits the radar as being exceptionally long lived (immortal) and not especially quick witted, but we're building theories on very little information.

Assuming we are dealing with a Doyen then while everything I've said is true (or even more so, the Doyen probably have as a racial handycap that flaw where you roll two dice and take the lower as your init bonus)... it might not matter. The Doyen are bodyless and might even have access to Mastery x2. They are vunerable to quantum... but what that means in practice has never to my knowledge been established because none of the PCs who have encountered them have been novas.

Barring the ability to find a specifically anti-psion drug Andrew will at least arm the rest of you with some potent non-leathal knock-out drugs. If he can't be there he can at least outfit you all well.

We set the cut off for being bounced from the Ship at less than 2 dots of Psi-Shield. Meaning you need at least that in order to be here.

So present could be Lorean, Joani, Omar, Steve, Amber, Mike, & Cody (I'm making assumptions about Mike & Cody but with their themes they should have it).

Definitely not there are the Prez, any baseline crew, & Andrew.

I've no clue where our other two novas hit the radar on this.

I'm not sure how the group integration part is going to work, but just thought I would let you all know that I'm working on having a character brought into the game. So, "Hi" ahead of time :P

Edit: Yes, character meets the Psychic Defenses prerequisite smile
