Am I correct in assuming we now have THREE sets of brother/sister eruptees?

I know there isn't a rule against that, but isn't it bucking the odds that it's happened so frequently but that they are all here?

*shrugs* PC's are supposed to be more unusual than NPC's, at least that's how it was explained to me when I first started RPing. I know one of the sets is a port from the 2018 game. The twins were made between myself and my roommate to have characters with a strong tie to help me get acquainted with the boards. This third set the had the older brother as an quasi-NPC by Rapture's writer, but he asked if anyone wanted to play him and some accepted.

The actual characters are all very different, so I at least don't see much of a problem with it. My understanding from what I read and what people have been saying here is that there's a genetic code for growing a node, so I don't see that it would be that unusual for siblings to be nova's.

Just my $.02 (grrr...no cents sign on my keyboard)

On the one hand, I imagine that there would be a heightened chance for siblings to all possess the eruption gene (though not a dead certain chance, and perhaps not the same eruption trigger.)

On the other hand, I think sibling novas would be a lot more common in the books if the gene was distributed thusly. It also strikes me as having a heightened cheese potential, though I stress that this is only potential and not actually the presence of cheese.

I think the core problem is not that there's three of them, but that three showed up in rapid succession. There's not much we can do about that, however - people will play what they want to play. In a few months the issue will probably be sorted out as 200X grows into it.

I know, I know. Sorry guys. smile

It was a 'oh, is he a nova', 'I haven't decided, does anybody want to play', 'sure' kinda thing.

I've thought about this a little bit. As the player of one of the sibling sets, I may be biased, but what I'm about to say actually comes from my experiences LARPing.

In the LARPs I've done, it's a large organization. It's impossible to reach a consenus of any kind, so there has to be certain allowances made. Some allowances should not be made, but the ones I talk of only push credulity a little, but create a lot of fun for those playing. It comes down to how much you let reality slide as opposed to limiting fun.

I would say to not worry about the siblings, not unless it becomes a larger issue. In the end, the balance of reality vs. fun on this issue is much more heavily weighted to fun than reality (i.e., the amount of fun being had greatly outweighs the amount of disbelief we need to suspend).

Let's try to keep it fun. I don't know about you guys, but my life is completely crazy-stressful right now, and I'd rather not contaminate my fun with more stress, please. Thanks!

We also have a guy creating android FemBots in his mom's basement. So I honestly can say that I don't see anything strange about anything anyone comes up with at this point.
