Not saying you should act like an ingrateful little shit, just saying, your teen years are kind of the years you should be testing your boundaries and working out the model for what your relationship with your parents will be for probably the rest of your life. It's one thing to do right by your parents, but "respect" doesn't necessarily equal "blind obedience". My old man was a good guy and more often than not he was right, but nobody's right all the time.

Ugh. I hate written communication. See, when I reading what you guys said, I saw that you were saying, "Be an ingrateful little sh1t." I don't blindly obey my parents; my sense of justice does extend to myself, and I knew when I went to Tx that I was disobeying my parents. I'm "doing my time" for that.

But if I came home and my mom said, "You didn't fold your clothes this morning," when she didn't ask me and we have an agreement that my room is my room, then I wouldn't feel like I needed to take her punishment for not folding them. It'd be bullsh1t for her to call me on that.

So are we clear that I'm a normal teen who is developing at a natural pace?

Clear to me. I figure everyone has to grow up in their own stride. It is as natural to stay close to home as it is to cut yourself loose when the impulse pushes.

I don't believe anyone has found the 'perfect' system to graduate to maturity.

I missed High School pretty much. I didn't rebel until I was 23. I guess I have a lot to catch up on, and know there will always be things that I've just missed out on.
