Ladies and gentlemen, if you will please go back a page to Cody's most recent post. I created the dit and the execution there, since other people have already been responding to the act I thought it fitting. Fox, you however will probably need to go and reedit. For one thing I made sure that she was conscious and for another the way it stands now the timing is a little off...

Cody and Michael still need to follow up by scanning Harold and determining what threat he poses. Lorean will keep him sedated until they do. Cody also needs to deprogram the sleeper agents in Hollywood. After that is done, I'm going to award some nps and we'll jump the timeline forward a few more decades.

If I may be so bold, how about a combo of NPs and XPs?

Since it pretty much all him and Michael (an NPC) and given the intense nature of the last few weeks of RPing, I made it so we can just move on when the people on the bridge are ready. The parts with Harold and the sleeper agents is included for you to narratively summarize and we can move forward to the next chapter.

I've had a dialog with Ulric about the Paragon-thing and I'd gladly spearhead the whole thing. It seems as if we had the same ideas without ever talking about it

Ulric wanted me to be something like the founder of a JLA-like group. Maybe called the Freedom League (feel free to make suggestions for a different name). With time more and more "specials" may join. This looks a little like me being some kind of Caestus Pax and the League something like T2Mish - I suppose its up to us how we work this out. Besides that, Joani knows nothing about the future, so someone should update her on important subjects and difficulties. Actually she hasn't read anything yet. She knows only what the President told her and what she picked up from other conversations.

That's exactly what I was in two minds about - She does have both Mega-Wits and Mega-Int and I was thinking how to react and then just went for what I felt like in the situation. I think we're handling this ok. Thanks for your understanding

Oh, I really like Paragons as a name for the T2M group. Sets the right tone for what you are wanting out of them I think.

Yes, Max escorted the judges back into the conference room so that they can discuss what has happened and add any personal comments they would wish to into the record. It is only you guys on the bridge. I would suggest switching settings to 10-forward and continuing whatever discussions you want to have over dinner, or reconvening the next day for a working lunch. The time is currently late afternoon/early evening of a very tiring day.

The only thing left to do for this chapter is wrap things up and make some decisions about the future. See the following list:

Things that need to be sorted out before I can set the next scene and jump us foward:
1) Set of laws for metas (they don't have to be detailed, I just need a general here's what we envision)
2) meta courts and government participation (same, just a general outline of how it should work)
3) time table for revealing their existence
4) Plans for the Paragon group (general ideas about it, heirarchy, how does it tie into the government, that sort of thing)
5) any other things you wish to do with the future that haven't already been discussed

Andrew with work with Steve and a couple of baselines to work out the tech needed for the Quantum Null-Field Generator, also he will research a similar tech for an Anti-Psi Field.

Beyond that and his normal duties he's going to study up on Engineering (he only has 3 dots) Medicine (2 dots) and in general he will play around with his abilities as usual.

One last thing. Once he feels ready he will combine his physics, medical, and quantum knowlede from the future and begin trying to "solve" the problem of taint.

I agree that the Q nullifier is a good idea in theory. In the long run it means baselines are essentially more powerful than Novas due to tech. For this world its good. Novas through the example of the paragons will become normal citezens and help where they can if they want to or not.

It just concerns me what baselines would do to novas if they had such tech.

It also concerns me for us and Lorean in case it is ever used on us.

We wanted to evntually give up control...lets just hope it happens without an outright coup...

If we follow the tenants of Democracy, we have to hand over that tech to the baselines. We share in the Society they create, thus we share in the technology that keeps them safe - even if couldn't have created this technology themselves.

But if we intend to have jails that can hold novas, and I think we do, and if those jails are run by the government, and I think they will be at some point, then yes.

BTW I like the name Paragons much better than Freedom League. Granted FL has a more Adventure! Era ring to it so it makes sense for Ulric. Paragon sounds more modern as well as being a literal soundbyte for the examples we hope to set as Fox said.

You want the devices for nova/psion prisons. So make the devices very large so that they can't be transported, that way they can't be used against you.

As for Interpol, you will also need to create a division to control advanced tech. By year 2000 you guys are going to be getting into tech more advanced that your home timelines. Depending on how long you stay in this timeline you could get into some seriously difficult tech. I would suggest making laws to govern the development of new tech. That combined with the indoctrination that everyone undergoes should insure that really bad things don't get loosed on the public.

Also, I mentioned to Andrew in PM that I am adding a couple things to the game.

Skills:
Nova Medicine (5 dots in this skill necessary to develop cures for taint. The cure will be unique for each individual since taint manifests differently in each person.)

Speaking of Q6... It is open for purchase should someone want to, however, I'm going to rule that you have to have at least 1 power/mega-att at 5 dots, and another at 3 or better before you can buy Q6. You cannot buy it tainted.

Does Q6 include Mastery? And if so under what conditions?

Mastery is an extra that has to be purchased for each power you want it on under normal purchase rules. Also, you have to have 5 dots in the power before you can buy mastery. I reserve the right to disallow purchase of Mastery for powers that I think might break the game in some way.

Hmm... so in theory Steve could drop 23 exp on his luck power and get Mastery... of course he'd also need 120 for increasing quantum. I think I'll pass. Q1 may be lowly but I still look human.

Andrew pointed out that there is massive potential abuse with the ability to have one's taint cured or healed.

Let me clarify. What I had in mind is that if anyone gets 'cured' I was meaning for them to buy off their taint with xp. Also, anyone that was cured or healed, would find it impossible to buy future abilities and powers tainted. That would prevent abuse, otherwise everything would be purchased with taint if all you had to do was pay a visit to the nova doctor and take some taint reducing pills. The cure would be expensive too since each person would need an individually tailored treatment probably costing permanent resource dots on top of the xp.

My vision is an array of emitters that establishes the boundary for the null zone. You would not be able to just walk around with a huge null zone, especially given the assumed power requirements. I think it would be difficult to weaponize this technology.

RE: Going Public.
So... does being a nova mean you have to be a public nova? I.e. can Steve, Omar, and Ulric stay in the closet?

And I figure we're going to have to go public in 6 to 12 months, not 10 years.
