Eland was born on the planet Shili under the name Shikori Lor. He spent his early years learning the carnal ways of the Togruta, but a crashed ship held much more interest for him. He'd sneak away from his tribe for days to examine the ship, attempting to take it apart with his improvised tools. Within years he knew how to take it apart and put it together, almost with his eyes closed. He didn't know what most of the parts did, but he was sure they were necessary. When he was old enough he stowed away on a transport ship that was leaving the rural planet. There was only hunting and surviving on Shili, and he knew he was meant for something more important. After a year or two on the fringes he apprenticed himself out to a employee of the Republic. Eland never actually worked on a ship, but the employee taught him everything that he needed to know about starfighters and transports. After three years of theory learning he left his apprenticeship to find work on the fringes. He survived for several years off of the scraps of smugglers. A smuggler always had a need for a good mechanic and Eland was quickly realizing that he was nearing the top of the line. He kept his fees small as he had no formal training or licence.

Eland was 18 when he first had a trouble customer. A hutt picked him up as Eland was working for a group of scoundrals and smugglers. The hutt demanded that Eland be his personal mechanic and Eland reluctantly accepted. It wasn't a month later when Eland would escape the hutt's grasp. Eland made a mistake while fixing the engine of a transport that was moving a massive amount of death sticks. The ship exploded when it took off, killing the hutt's go-to crew and destroying the death sticks. Eland instantly ran, knowing that he would be killed. He found a way off the planet and eventually got himself a new name. Eland now moves from port to port, planet to planet, just trying to get by. One ship at a time.
