Most of the time it is fairly obvious, what with the unusual occurences such as flame leapng from your eyes, the ability to read War and Peace in thirty minutes and offer a doctoral dissertation on it it ten or the sudden curious control over the minds of your co-workers.

How long have you 'suspected' that you were a nova? Haven't you gone to a Rashoud Facility to make sure? PR aside, they do know there business.

Ahhh, here we go. I went out and got a keyboard today. I usually use a slightly different human interface device... but I guess that's going to change.

Why do I think I'm a nova? Well, a little background: I'm a cryptozoologist, and I study strange and unusual animals for a living. You wouldn't believe the stuff sailors drag up in their nets... well, maybe you would, you being novas and all.

Recently there was a fire at my lab and the whole building burnt down. I survived, unhurt, with only a little smoke inhalation. They found me naked in a crater that was the result of something shooting out the side of the building. They took me to the hospital, and I was there for about a week - I discharged myself yesterday.

The reason why I think I'm a nova is because I'm using a keyboard right now, instead of a rod strapped to the side of my head. When I was 14, I got into a horrible car accident and I lost motor control in my legs, my left arm, and somewhat in my right. And my voicebox was destroyed too. But when I woke up in the hospital, I could walk and talk just fine - and it was like I'd never stopped. I instinctively knew how to do it. My hair's changed color from brown to stark white, and my eyes are as green as emeralds now.

But I haven't had a single headache. They had, by chance, a nova elite who'd landed in the hospital, and he was happy to look me over with... what did he call it, his "quantum sense." He said I had a standard baseline quantum pattern. They've scheduled an MRI for me in a few days, but you know how the waiting list is on these things.

As for a Rashoud facility, that's actually something I thought about. But I went up there on the bus today, and there were THRONGS of people hanging around outside. Groupies. And the press was there, too. And I knew that if they thought I was a nova, I'd never get a moment's peace. I just couldn't go in.

And if I do have quantum powers, I'll be damned if I can figure out what they are. I tried lifting a car today and got nowhere. I tried reading my sister's cat's mind and just went crosseyed. My family is overjoyed, of course, that I'm unhurt, and miraculously walking and talking... but they don't know what to think. One theory is that I ran into a nova who can heal people. There's no known nova in the area who can do that, though...

This is probably something you deal with all the time, I guess. People going up to you and going, "Hi, I think I'm a nova 'cause I had this feeling that my boyfriend was cheating on me and it turned out he did and that's why I think I'm psychic." :p I hate to be a pain but I have no idea what's going on. About the only 'lead' I have are these weird dreams I've been having...

At least you erupted form something disastrous. I erupted during a friggin' schoolyard brawl. A damn schoolyard catfight for crying out loud! :p
But, I wonder, the accident that initially hurt you and triggered your node, was your family involved, and did they survive?

No, they wern't in the lab when it went up. My mom, dad, and sister are fine - so are my co-workers. I was working late at the time, researching something that had captured my attentions for many months now...

Ah good. So it was just the trauma of the accident that caused your eruption.

What sort of abilities do you have?

I don't know, to be honest. I thought I had total recall earlier today when I found myself able to recite all the lines from Ghostbusters, but I've always been able to do that.

Apparently, I have the proportionate strength, speed, and agility of a human being. If that counts as a nova power I think standards have fallen.

You may have some other abilities. Look in the mirror, do you look any different? When you talk to people, do they believe you more? Or perhaps you intimidate them more? Just because you know you can recite Ghostbusters, dosen't mean you don't have powers of the brain. Example; Before one nova erupted, they couldn't speak even a lick of their own language. Afterwards, they became the freakin' tower of babylon and was able to speak every damn language there is. Try remembering other movies. Try remembering other FOREIGN movies you have seen. Heck, try remembering the lyrics to a song you couldn't understand the lyrics to.

You may have unbeliveable stamina or the ability to soak up damage like a sponge, although I don't reccomend jumping off a cliff or getting yourself shot or some junk like that.

It'll come to ya. Just don't do anything stupid to figure it out.

Ms. Vixen, I am not a physical superman as well. I am only slightly improved over my old pre-eruption self, though I look and feel much younger.
At the very least, look over various Opsites for descriptions of other novas' eruptions and look for similarities. You sound quite intelligent, so use what you know you have and start putting it together. The fact that you have gained more physical prowess is a good thing, even if you are not a nova.

I mean, I could be there is what 5-6 hours flat.And I think I have a tad bit more resources at my disspozile that can help a woman lllllike this out, now if you wish to go as well, I would greatful..I do not think I could take you with me.. I never was that strong.

And Dr. Roxanne Richardson, I could use a city name,that is unless you would prefer me finding it on my own.I could meet you in an open are,I would prefer not to,as of late too many people try to get too closse and some get burnt,part of my ppowers,I guess.Here are some of the things that may happen, a I meet you and know that you are a nova.I don't know how but I can feel who and who is ot one,at least some of the times,something to with the node I got.B,I don't feel that your a nova and take you to a place to get tested,witch either means that you tested as a nova or not.If you are one,then you know it,if yourn't one you get a paib vactoin to mexxiico.

I would recamend that is if you are one to learn from Utopia.They are some of the best teachers and unless I miss my guess, from what I gather they could give you a job that most likely pays more and has more perks.I don't mean to sound pushy, but I have seeen to many novas wast lives with companies likebig blue(IBM),or Inutech.

Thanks, guys! I can't tell you what a relief it is to find out that novas aren't all the egomaniacs they seem like on Two Minutes Hate. But things are taking interesting turns.

You're probably wondering why I picked the name I did - it's got to do with the weird dreams. I'm always in a forest, late at night, and I'm walking along, and it takes me a while to realize things aren't right. I stop to drink at a stream, and then the water stops to flow and goes still, and I see my face in the water - only it's not my face, it's this green-eyed fox staring back at me. And every time I wake up afterwards - every time - I spend a quiet moment wondering if I was dreaming then, or if I'm dreaming now. If I'm a woman dreaming I'm a fox or a fox dreaming I'm a woman.

It might not have anything to do with erupting, though. It might be just guilt over what happened at the lab - my lab subject, this weird vulpine, probably died in the fire. It hurts to think about the poor animal suffering that way... and I just get angry about all the research I lost.

I thought, "hey, maybe I got animal themed powers!" and I tried to tell my sister's cat what to do again. I don't think even a nova can make a cat do anything it doesn't want to do, though. There's impossible, and then there's IMPOSSIBLE. I stubbed my toe on the stairs today so it doesn't look like I'm invulnerable. And my memory for Ghostbusters may be spotless, but I can't remember a thing about Ghostbusters 2 - though that's probably for the best.

I had the weirdest thing happen today, though. I was eating lunch at the university, and someone slipped me a note. It just had the following words written on it:

Roxanne nodded, and her sister drove off. She sighed, and looked up at City Hall - and then further up, wondering how Miss Fortune would show up. Flying in? Teleporting, maybe? Running really fast? She went down a mental list of all the nova powers she'd ever heard about... and realized it was a long list.

She leaned up against the wall, and watched the sky, with one hand on her wallet. Butterflies fluttered nervously in her stomach.
