Just logged on to the site. Although I've been reading the boards since I errupted a couple of months back, I thought I'd wait until I was in a slightly secure location before signing on in person to introduce myself.

The name's Sphere, and you hopefully all be hearing a lot more about me in the future. Crackling balls o'boiling plasma and professional Directive botherer.

Hello and welcome Sphere. You an I have a at least two things in common now. Dislike for the redhats and the fact that were Novas.

Jager: long time no see. Good to see you back, or rather, its nice to be back to see you. Hope life has been good to you and you have had your fill of wee Asian women. wink

Ahh the Directive. Bunch of humourless, black helicopter flying types. My witty banter is utterly lost on them. Puny baselines (whoops, channelled that Mal guy for a sec).

Good to meet you people.

Hey. New here myself.

Can't say I have a fondness for superspooks myself - though I personally wouldn't be inclined to screw with them. I guess it's a lifestyle. ( ;

May you stand on the shoulders of titans to reach what those before you never even dreamed of.

Be greatful and wary of the gods you can now call sisters. They can teach you much.It is just that they may teach you of things that are not what you wish to know. So to use a saying

"We are the best of humanity, and the wroset... But weather we are good or evil,we truly are gods."

Odd, a homeless guy said a similar thing to me as I was walking to the pub yesterday. Well, he said it to a wall, but I got the point.

Just kidding Signy. Good to meet you.

As for those Directive boys. Well, it's not like I got much of a choice in the matter. But if they want a war, they've got one. Superspies or coppers, same animal with different spots.

Sphere, don't forget to mention that you made your life the pile of shit that it has become. You are being hunted because you are an escaped fugitive. You were and are a violent felon who preys upon others. You are no hero, just a thug with some fancy banter. Undoubtedly, you will be crying for your mother when they bring you down.

Preston, the young are head strong and rash. But do you have to be as well?

I have seen your record, and it is good. You have done some good things, but you are not prefect either.

No, I am not comparing you to him, but I am saying that treating him this way, will not help him, your or anyone else. so,you want him off the street. So do I, but yelling at him online will only make him mad, relieve your stress at best.... On the other side it could cost people lives. Is your stress level worth the risk?

Headstrong and rash? What, like that Directive agent who cornered me in the Lyceum pub in London? Who was the one holding back there? Was it the dashing escaped criminal who could potentially level city blocks? Why I believe it was. That Morrison's a bloody menace with a machinegun! But I guess he's the one with the badge isn't he. Makes all the difference.

It was a good thing I found out I can fine tune the damage my spheres can do. Nearly ended up in the slammer then and there. As it was, it was Morrison rolling about on the road, clutching his knees and crying for Mummy.

Got an address I can send flowers and Lucozade to?

Hey I guess you're right, now you're a Nova fugitive even coppers can shoot you without warning you first. But if I was you I'd still be praying the law got to me first. The super spies don't have much in the way of paperwork to do you see, makes them especially trigger happy.

Add in the fact that they have lots of neat gimmicks that probably seriously violate lots of Utopias rules. They also employ lots of old-school, cold war spook types that need the business after end of said war.

If they're the same animal then the old bill are Corgi's and the super spies are Dobermans.

Sphere, you made a good point without realizing it. The Directive will catch back up with you, and your options are not good. You will either be killed, or incarcerated in a place were your civil liberties will be violated. Now, if you have fled Directive jurisdiction, you aren't in much better shape. You are now within Utopia's radar, as well. If they decide to join the hunt, you are looking at Bahrain.

There is another option. Contact your Home Office and see what they have to say.
If you don't like that one, try the Argus Agency, or PeaceKeepers Inc. Both possess excellent legal teams and don't generally require you to sign your life away or kill people for money.

Perhaps I was wrong about you. You have been given a second chance. Try to make a better run of it this time.

Sphere has some other options... and problems.

The big problem is that on his current path, bigger and bigger guns are going to get sent his way, until he loses. If the Directive can't hack it then they will turn to DeVries or something like them (and you are kidding yourself if you think the Directive doesn't deal with DV).

Other Options: He could join DeVries (tell them Troll sent you). I don't know what your history is but DVNTS might suit you. Similarly, he might try the USArmy. I've heard they have been looking for novas.

But he really should sign up with somebody. It is tough being an independant nova if the Directive and/or PU has you in their sights.

If the Directive can't hack it he should be looking out for Thorn.Thorn is looking for a good bag,and well this one will look good in a Utopian founded prison.

Oh Sphere, if you see Thorn he will have a gift from me to you.

Sphere, you sound like a smart fellow, ever think of getting into the corporate arena? I bet there are several corps out there looking for security experts.
And, if you get into a particularly BIG one, you do have some protection. After all, a corp has to protect it's Human and Nova resources.

Ah, Endeavor ... maybe he should clear up some of the 'difficulties' concerning his past, first. Being a wanted felon is somewhat of a drawback in the hiring process.

I have no love for the Directive, they are a manipulative bunch who are far to willing to risk others for their own ends.

What I do find surprising is the unsubtlety of your 'friend' Morrison. He seems like an exception to their usual modus operandi, from what I've experienced of it anyway (which, without going into to many details, is quite a bit).

I found it pretty surprising myself, mate. Thought I was supposed to be on the side that had no regard for bystanders! Mind you, from what I've heard, these Directive types are some sort of multi-national taskforce with guys from the US, England, and the Russian Fed. So I suppose I shouldn't be too surprised at their lack of concern for civilians.

What's your story then, Kage? You sound like you've got a beef with the trenchcoat battalion too.

Troll, Preston, Endeavor, and Walker. Cheers for the various bits of advice and suggestions. I've got a lot to think about I guess. I've put out some feelers to a couple of organisations, so I guess I'll have to see what comes back. I...

Hang on people. Got an alarm ringing on the grounds. Gonna have a butchers and will be back (hopefully).

Your memory might be slipping here, remember the goons when we went to see Vixen? Though when I first came back I would have asked the same question myself. Then they started bugging my phone and houses and stuff like that, I found out about them through that. Even had to change my OSP to outside England to stop them trawling through my computer records as well. Interesting choice of name, I wonder exactly who came up with their directive?

Directive is a security organization containing the United States, United Kingdom, Germany, Russian Federation, and Japan.

Their declared purpose is that of an international policing body. Like Interpol on SOMA.
Their real purpose (as far as I have been able to determine) is to police novas, gather intelligence on Project Utopia and the Teragen, and combat the largest criminal syndicates.

I am not worried about the Directive types who believe bigger guns and more firepower will solve their problems. They are embarrassing dinosuars that will take care of themselves. while they might believe taking out twenty or thirty civilians to bag one "dangerous" nova, the public does not ... yet, anyway.

I am worried about the ones who know how to use novas for constructive purposes, and know how to work behind the scenes. Seems as if there are novas that don't trust or like other novas. Nothing like self-loathing to provide some creative work ethic.
Also, if Sphere had dismantled fifteen to twenty of the local constabulary instead of some faceless Directive uber-commandos, he would truly be in the crapper. The locals don't like it when they can put faces to the obits.

Be careful out there. The world isnt' getting any safer for most of us.

Talk about your "skin o' the teeth" escapes. Whoever it was hadn't realised he'd tripped any alarms. He seemed much too intent on breaking into the villa. Boy was a Nova though, I could tell that by the ping-ping-ping of my node.

Fast moving bastich too. Was in and up the stairs in the blink of an eye. Doubt I'd have been able to hit him with a shooter.

I flicked the lights out as he kicked in the door. He just stood there in the darkness with his eyes glowing a lurid green. Looked me straight in the eye, smiled and said "Mr Roberts, we've got an offer for you. I suggest you take it, it's the kind you can't refuse."

Now normally I'm a fairly cool customer. But since the eruption I been feeling a little more tetchy than usual. This cocky little toerag must have really got to me. I didn't even reply, just let flipped on my field and let rip.

He ducked the plasma and came at me faster than I could move. Dirty great claws shooting out of his hands. He had me by the neck, and I could feel my field begin to give under his grip.

He said something like "We don't take no for an answer."

I came back with a witty stream of abuse and pumped as many spheres as I could in the general direction of the villa's gas mains.

Must've been only a few seconds later I came to about twenty metres outside the flaming wreckage. My handy dandy field cushioned the impact. I was up and running.

Didn't see the guy, but I assume he made it out as well. Currently on the move, writing this on a terminal at a train station.

Thing is, he might have had a good offer. But he pissed me off and I couldn't help but cut loose with the plasma. I never used to act like that. For all my showing off it was nearly the same thing when Morrison went for me. Only managed to hold myself in check then cause of the civvies.

What the hell did my eruption do to me!?

Walker, I thought those guys were Utopians... or at least that is what they told me.

Now I'm pissed.

Those guys had my place crawling for a week. My scanners were pinging every 5 minutes telling me there was another electronic eavesdropping device coming online.

Now, physical removal of the devices was easy at first, untill I started having to rip down panelling and wiring to get at the little beasties.

Now I have mini-drones in the walls looking for undetectibles, and I'm seriously thinking of letting off an EMP pulse just to clean house... Only thing that stops me is the fact my domecile's appliance network isn't hardened to EMP waves...

Anyways, I also think my memory does skip a track once in a while. When you got things runningin the foreground all the time, I tend to crash a program or two in the background, if you know what I mean. ~.^

That's sure is a weird combination of nations, I wonder what could have scared them enough to consider such an agreement ... Ooopps, there goes my sarcasm again wink

Sphere

Have you really got as many ex-girlfriends as the tabloids are digging up? The lurid details have been all over the Sun, Sport and Star for the past week, very entertaining reading I must say smile

Sakurako

Just in case your memory IS slipping, some of them were No Placers as well. The Directive's constant eavsdropping is annoying but it seems to make them happier, so what the hell, let them monitor, after all if you've got nothing to hide you've got nothing to fear ...

Right?

I did take precuations such as you've mentioned when I found out about by own problems but since then, I've heard a rumour that they've got monitoring programs all over the net that flag up certain keywords for a human operator to look over. The programs capture the whole file that the keywords appear in and relay it. Just in case such rumours are true I'd like to say Drugs, Bombs, Teragen and hi there, sorry for wasting your time again wink

I consider myself lucky to get away with 'Eccentric, Mysterious, Reclusive, Millionare Nova'.

I just bore them with complex, heartfelt yet, to them at least, boring arguements about the enviornment and space exploration, they soon give up and go away.

Not to worry people, still warm the blood that runs in my veins. Just been running for the last couple of days, literally.

Found out I can run a lot faster if I burn a little juice. I mean, I'm not as fast as that Blurrr nonce who works for Nike, but I can keep up a pace. Combined with my apparently endless endurance, means I managed to get a long, long way away from the villa. Hopefully without being followed.

Been thinking. Need to find a place to catch my breath. Neutral ground, know what I mean? I'll get the first round in, if any of you show up.

Oh, and Walker, a gentlemen never reveals his conquests. However, I'm not a gentlemen, so...

Oops, gotta run!
