I find it humorous that some novas who look like beasts, seem to think it is their calling to act like beast. I find it most amusing when they say, that it is their nature to act like a beast,on the grounds that they look like one. I do not see how this will achieve any form of enlightenment, but I do not walk there paths.

There are also some novas who look like beasts and don't act like them, and vice versa. While I don't know much about "enlightenment", if some novas think they have the way to get there, more power to them.

I can see the humor when the justification for their actions is that they look like a beast and have to act like one, but most of the time it's just not the case.

It is observed that some have elements of beastly nature imposed with their eruptions while others engage in such behavior willfully.

It is suggested that, minimally, a distinction between these two conditions should be drawn before generalizations are applied.

There are more ways to enlightenment than denying one's nature. I hope.

A persons way may seem incorrect, but it works for that person. At least in the matter of understanding one's self.

One's soul on the other hand... that is a different matter. If one denies their soul and/or concience, they are indeed falling upon their more animalistic instinct.

I did not think of Totem when I posted. I was more thinking of the fact that you should not be trapped into thinking you act in a manor based only on how you look. I fail to see why beasts are anymore enlightened than humans.

Because we are free. Because in our eruption our body turned from humanity allowing our minds to follow more easily. Those who still look human still think they should be human. Heh Totem and I are Kindred spirits, he's a Griffin, I''m a Tiget that walks on two legs. We both know we aren't human anymore, and we accept it. I may pretend at being Ryu Hideyoshi now and again, but that's all just a game, I'm Long now and always. It's sometimes difficult to not give into the new/old instincts I have, (The same I would believe Totem has) but I am more than a beast, more than a Man. Animals are free? I guess you can say that. Unless you look into the fact that most the animals that we call beasts do not learn from those who came before them. They fallow very narrow paths of life,that rarely changes,and tends to do so only under threat of death. But at least to me freedom is not the lack of comfort about who you are,but the ability to know and change it.

I have been studying novas, for a long time.I have spent more time with novas wile you still looked human,than you have looked the way you do now. I didnt say I was an animal I mean that because we are so changed that we are freed of the human experience more easily. Don not get me wrong I still enjoy some of the same things humans do but I do not believe that humans have exclusive rights to some of the things they do.

I would make the same arguement for someone who was pure light or say Copper or Titanium. It is as obvious as looking in a mirror that we are not human. It is harder if you still look like them though.

This is all one reason why I think that being able to dorm down is more a weakness than something helpful. It removes us from who we really are.

Hmm. I'm torn on this. I could say that, because I wake up with it every day I've learned to accept it, but that is crap. Every nova wakes up with their...'novadom' every day. Am I in a different situation then others? Sure. Am I at an advantage or disadvantage? No.

When I first erupted I, like many new eruptees, freaked out. But I spent a lot of time figuring out who I was and what I wanted to do with that. I think that novas who have not changed in appearance might be able to ignore that they have changed on any level, while I was not able. I don't think necessarily that that is bad or that they are limited. It's different for everybody I guess.

Dorming is a tool, Totem. If you use it to hide from yourself, it can be very self-destructive. As with any tool, it is the manner inwhich its used that's important.

What's the difference between 'dorming' (which I'm guessing means making your node go dormant) and just not pumping node juice? Also, has anyone else ever noticed all the sexual connotations the labels for novadom have? Just off the top of my head there's;

Mastering quantum.

Dorming (a short step to the dom/sub thing)

Dorming allows you to suppress some of your inhuman aspects, like quantum backlash and permanently active abilities (claws, metal skin, hypersenses). For novas who are comfortable and dependent on their superhuman abilities, it is like intentionally crippling themselves. For novas who are afraid of what they have become, it's like a crutch.

Actually you are wrong Lemmy. How we look on the outside is an expression of what we are on the inside. Sure our appearance doesn't define us but it does help illustrate each unique expression of what we have or are becoming.
