Teknokat finished strapping on her harness, and tied the cable to the back support. If there was any time to do this, now was the time. She pressed the button to open the cargo ramp. She radioed the pilot.

"Jeffery, this is Teknokat, are you reading me?"
"I'm reading you Teknokat. We're flying at 3000 feet, and slowed down as per your orders"
"Thanks Jeff. This shouldn't take long, but while it's happening, the radio will be off. If the radio turns on, be on extra alert."
"Roger that Teknokat. Jeffery out." And with that, Teknokat turned off the radio.

She looked out into the open sky. Expert eyes scanned the skyline, and caught sight of a tiny black speck. 'Kat smiled, the jumped off the cargo ramp.

The cable would continue for a good 50 meters or so, after which it would begin to decelerate her fall, until she was 100 meters out from the aircraft. She figured that would be plenty of room.

As the cable braked kicked in, she saw the speck begin to accelerate towards the jet. 'Kat waved to the now recognisably human shape, and it almost imperceptibly changed course to head directly to her.

She now saw the nova, with a small white box in his hand. The obviously fairly young asian nova flew up next to her.

"You Teknokat?" yelled the nova in a Japanese accent.
"That'd be me," Teknokat yelled back. "Is that the information I requested?"
"Indeed it is"
"So, how much do I owe Alex?"
At that, the young nova laughed. "No worries about that. Alex made sure to directly debit your credit account"
Teknokat frowned. "Alex doesn't know my cred-" At that point it hit her. "That little rat! Just wait until I get my hands on him! Give me that package!" she yanked the package from the nova courier's hands.
"Say hi to Alex for me!" yelled the nova as he began flying away from the plane. As soon as the nova got a safe distance, he suddenly sped up to an amazing speed, and disappeared from sight.

Teknokat stopped her almost visible fuming over her underestimation of Alex's abilities long enough to tap the button on her harness that would reel her back into the jet. When I get back, I have so many choice words to share with Alex, she thought. Having finished the thought, she filed it away in her frightfully efficient mind, and continued thinking of the mystery ahead of her.
