This thought occurred me to as a way to create a more cohesive world for us to play in. I am currently writing a fiction where my character goes to the Nova Club in Chicago. I don't recall that it was ever detailed in any of the books, and I started to wonder if anyone here had detailed that building. For continunity, I want to adhere to what has been done before. And that in turn led me to realize that if I wanted to know that, I was going to have to search the archives.
There has to be a better way.
What if the developers created a sub-folder in the OOC board and we started to cut and paste our descriptions of fictional buildings into the thread for that city? It would make such information extremely easy to find and would help us all be in the same world.
That doesn't mean that those things would be locked in place. Do you need to have a 80's theme for a club but my character established it as a 50's theme? Change it and note the change in the thread. The next time my character goes, they can see that the club has redecorated. This would mean another step of work for everyone, but with the magic of cut and paste, it would be a minor extra step.
The other advantage is the chance to use each other's buildings. Need a shady dive in Seattle? Just check the thread and see if someone else has done one. Then the creator can see their building used by others, and the writer doesn't have to use brain cells creating another one.
This is of course, just an idea that I've had. I'd love if other people would weigh in on it and let me and the adminstrators know what you think.
