Name: Apep (formerly known as Viper)
Real Name: Unknown
Allegiance: Teragen
Gender: Female
Height: 4’7”
Weight: 100 lbs
Appearance: A middle-to-late teenaged girl, obviously her aging is slowed due to quantum. She has auburn hair normally kept just above shoulder-length, trimmed so that the front hangs down just slightly more than the back. Her figure and poise are those of a well-trained martial artist, well-muscled and flexible. She has cold, reptilian eyes of a haunting yellow hue with normal, human eyelids. Her tongue is narrow and forked, very much like a snake’s, but this doesn’t impair her ability to speak. Her skin shows signs of developing scales, most noticeably around her eyes and on her arms.
She prefers loose, flowing clothing that seems to be either Arabian or Arabian-inspired belly-dancers, preferring black and dark greens. Normally, she wears gold jewelry of ancient Egyptian design on her wrists, fingers, and ears: spiraling bands or serpentine twists.
Powers: Apep is able to camouflage her skin into her surroundings and blend in to all but the most perceptive eye. Her body produces a highly-paralytic venom which can be injected through her fangs, or alternatively spit cobra-like. She can communicate with any form of reptilian life and command them, and in extreme situations, has even been known to break her body apart into hundreds of small snakes. In combat, her fingers produce razor-sharp claws capable of rending steel, and her body heals wounds in combat almost instantaneously. She’s exhibited significantly-high levels of superhuman physical ability. Coupled with the fact that she recovers quantum at a highly-accelerated rate, this makes one of the most dangerous hand-to-hand Nova combatants in the world. Capable also of not only enveloping areas in darkness, Apep is able to give shadows physical form and manipulate it as though it were a vicious liquid that hardens when necessary. She is also adept at traveling through them and there seems no limit to her range.
Known Facts: Once known as Viper, a member of the Teragen-sympathetic cell called the Catalysts, Apep is considered one of the most dangerous novas on the planet to engage in hand-to-hand combat. Her confirmed nova body-count is the highest for a female nova, and she is also responsible for several baseline deaths. Most of these deaths have been the result of law enforcement agencies or hired Elites attempting to apprehend her, but certainly not all of them.
She’s been known to be active since 2006 and authorities ranging from Project Utopia to local law enforcement have been unsuccessful in trying to capture her, and she is seldom seen in public as a result. She’s lended assistance to Nova Vigilance in that past, and has also been known to work with the Terat Leviathan. She admits that she is the daughter of the Terat Ashnod, which Ashnod has confirmed is true in the past, and has worked closely with her several times.
Very little else is known about her, and part of that mystery has given her a following unlike that of any other wanted killer. Apep figures, posters, and memorabilia from Pandemonium Playthings can be purchased in stores despite protests from several groups. She’s been officially quoted twice, once on a self-published essay that can no longer be found in its entirety on the OpNet (“Now since quantum enables me to influence or change events in ways not understood nor anticipated by society, before I put it to use I must first develop a sound and sophisticated appreciation for the ethics governing my own motives, decisions, and actions. . .It must become second-nature to myself to carefully pre-evaluate the consequences of what I wish to do.”) and once while massacring guests on the now-defunct talk show Ask Billy (“You know what pisses me off most about you stupid little monkeys? You have these beautiful, simple and small lives and you waste and destroy them. You don't even realize how good you've got it.”). Both of these statements of spawned massive debates on the OpNet and in criminal science classrooms over her motivations, but she’s never made any effort to clarify or elaborate on them.
