Name: Glenn Roberts
Nova Handle: Alchemist
Marital Status: divorced
Erruption: Lab accident
Current occupation: Gadgeteer for the Windy City Knights

History:
His eruption in 2012 was covered by N! through witness interviews, and included a very short and dry interview with Glenn. Glenn Roberts was an employee of Triton's Research Division for several years (nearly his entire career) and was placed in charge of one of their smaller research centers shortly before his eruption. It is likely that the increased stress was partly a cause of his eruption.

The eruption itself was caused by a lab fire in one of the hazardous materials supply closets. A junior lab technician claimed responsibility for the accidentally causing the fire. Reports indicated that immediately after the fire alarm began to sound, Roberts left his office, walked through the lab at a near run, grabbing chemicals seemingly at random from nearby shelves on the way to the fire, and then haphazardly tossing them into the blaze. Everyone thought he had gone mad, until he tossed in the final beaker, slammed the door shut, and a soft explosion was heard from the closet. Roberts then headed back to his office, called the fire department to tell them that the fire had been dealt with, and promptly fell unconscious. A brave lab tech opened the closet door to find that the fire had been extinguished, and that the entire room was covered in an ice cold sticky foam.

During his short interview, Roberts mentioned that as far as he could tell, his only Nova powers were short 'bursts of clarity' over which he had little control, an enhanced speed and accuracy, and a preternatural awareness of chemical compounds.

Little is known about Robert's divorce or his early time as a nova, except that in the divorce settlement his wife took custody of their two children, Michael and Dorothy.

Update: After a difficult period in which he disappeared and was searched for by Triton, Utopia and the Directive, Alchemist has finally settled his differences with the law. No charges have been pressed and no suits have been filed, though there was some form of settlement between Alchemist and Project Utopia (mediated by his lawyer, Ulysses Bailey).

Update: Alchemist has settled into the role of 'primary gizmo provider' for the Windy City Knights, a group of midwestern City Defenders whose authority is centered around Chicago, but extends into neighboring states. His position has brought with it far more publicity and public attention than he would like.
