Real Name: Doctor Roxanne Rachel Richardson
Aliases: Vix, Foxy Roxy
Allegiances: None. Vixen has done freelance work for Project Utopia through Nova Services, international, but is not affiliated with the Project full-time.
Known Relatives: Richard Richardson (father, taxicab driver, deceased), Diana Richardson (mother, homemaker, deceased), Nicole Richardson (sister, bookstore owner), Mitch Lang (husband, University biology professor)
Education: PhD in biology and zoology
Occupation: Researcher for Century Incorporated; part-time freelancer for NSI
Appearance: Dormed down, Roxanne is a normal-looking, albeit striking, woman in her late twenties, with white hair and sharp green eyes. In this form, Roxanne wears normal clothing for the most part.
Undormed, Roxanne resembles a cross between a human and a fox – her face is somewhat vulpine (although far more expressive than any fox's) and her body is covered in orange, white and black fur. Her eyes are a sharper green and she possesses sharp teeth and claws. Most unusual is the fact that she has three tails. In this form Roxanne needs special clothing – she either does impromptu modifications to her baseline clothes, or uses one of a few special sets she has for this form (examples include a vest, tank top and shorts; an Oriental dress; Shinto priest robes; and a few other sets.)
Background: After a car accident in her teens, Roxanne was rendered nearly quadriplegic and unable to speak. This didn't slow her down mentally, however, and she earnt her doctorate in life sciences and went to work at a local Seattle university. She mostly studied unusual animals that, during the nova boom, had been freshly discovered.
One such specimen was a foxlike creature with two tails – possibly the basis for the myth of Japanese fox-spirits. After having studied it for some months, Roxanne was working late one night when her lab caught fire. Her last thoughts were of trying to somehow save the one live specimen she had with her. She claims that after she'd opened its cage, it leapt on her and bit her, and then it was gone.
She erupted into a mythological version of that animal, complete with a fully 'human' form she could take. Both forms were completely free of any of the trauma of her car accident. Since then, Roxanne has been trying to adjust to nova life, sometimes succeeding and sometimes not – for the time being she seems content with enjoying her second chance at life, doing what others take for granted and entering into a relationship with her longtime co-worker, Professor Mitch Lang. She has recently opted to semi-retire from the nova lifestyle and currently is back doing research into zoology, biology and related fields for the Seattle-based company Century Incorporated.
Recently, Mitch Lang proposed to Roxanne and she accepted, and the two were married on February 29th, 2016. She's retained her last name.
Tragedy has recently struck when Roxanne's parents, Richard and Diana Richardson, were killed in a car bomb that was part of a coordinated assault by members of the Church of the Michael Archangel. In this assault - which expanded to include 'those who walk with the devils' as well as the nova Roxanne - Mitch subdued an invader in their home and Roxanne and Nicole were shot with a sniper's bullet. All three are fine, though suffering a great deal of grief and post-traumatic stress. The car bomber is still at large, but the member staking out Nicole Richardson's bookstore was arrested with information gleaned from the two captured assailants. They are in police custody and awaiting trial. In the wake of this, Roxanne has found herself unable to dorm - the reasons seem purely psychological.
The whereabouts of the creature that bit Roxanne are currently unknown.
Powers: Vixen possesses a wide array of abilities - known, reliable ones include flight, telepathy, the ability to project illusions into the minds of groups of people at a time, fire and lightning generation, invisibility, intangibility, and the creation of a mist that protects her from harm by turning attacks immaterial. She also has highly acute senses and a voice that can be hypnotic. Rumors abound that Vixen also possesses some minor quantum-boosted social skills, but if she does they seem to be a compensation for her abnormal form more than anything.
Vixen experiments with her powers all the time, somtimes to the appreciation of those she lives with (such as experimenting with new means of perceiving one's body in the midst of a telepathic bit of foreplay) and sometimes to their annoyance (burning out potato clocks trying to create sustained alternating current.) She also possesses a highly developed ability to dorm down, a limited ability to attune her quantum signature, and can wiggle her ears.
Skills: Vixen is a highly skilled zoologist and biologist, and has a strong working knowledge of genetics, chemistry, physics (including quantum physics) and paraphysiology. She also is an able student of social sciences and keeps reasonably up to date on politics and world events. She is a tomboyish and trivia-prone girl-geek and can tell you Superman's birthday, the names of all the actors who played the Doctor, and the registry numbers of all Enterprise UFP starships.
Vixen has, since her eruption, learnt to swim and dance (not too well) as well as sing (rather well, actually.)
Under no circumstances should Vixen be allowed behind the wheel of a car.
