Board Name: Splitmind
Nova Name(s): Several, none registered. Names like Stretch, Twist, Reach, etc.
Real Name: Randomly gives names like Joe, Steve, Bob, Phyllis and Ernesto, whenever asked.
Age: Early 30's? Almost ten years since eruption, anyway.
Physical Appearance:
With an unruly mop of dark brown hair, sharp chin, long crooked nose, and large suspicious eyes, Splitmind was likely not handsome before he erupted. But his rise to Novadom took his naturally wiry, lanky form and stretched it as if upon a rack. Now his arms and legs are far too long to be normal, his thinness looks painful, and his joints have slowly shifted apart until his hands and feet are large, broad caricatures of the human norm, with heavily pronounced knuckles. Further, his skin is flecked with white, and continually shedding dandruff-like flakes.
When seen, he is almost always wearing a tattered-looking white labcoat (which sheds flakes much like his skin does) and gloves capable of fitting his hands. The rest of his clothing varies from appearance to appearance; he may be wearing a cardigan and khakis, or just a pair of jeans beneath the lab coat. Whatever he's wearing, it smells unpleasant. Not any sort of supernatural odor, but just the smell of someone who's forgotten to shower for several weeks.
Eruption:
Many Novas feel that they become enlightened after eruption. In Splitmind's case, he erupted because of his enlightenment. While driving, he broke into his first psychotic episode, gaining knowledge of a vast global conspiracy involving aliens and their dastardly plans for the panda population of Earth. After a few seconds of panic, he erupted, quickly gaining the physical and mental defenses he believed he'd need to combat the advancing alien plot. His head pounding, he crashed into another vehicle, and went flying through the windshield (in a perfectly non-Nova sense). His final power manifested, and he found himself wrapped around a fire hyrdrant, his bones the consistency of rubber. Extricating himself, he left the scene with only massive bruising and a new purpose in life.
Powers:
Splitmind's primary power is control over his own skeletal structure. His bones are malleable, and he can change their shape, size and density. His strength, quickness and toughness are all just enough to keep him from being completely overwhelmed in Nova circles, and he has a wealth of talents honed both during eruption and during a decade spent evading authorities, real and imagined. Over time, his skin and favorite item (his lab coat) have both begun to show signs of calcification, becoming more rigid and bonelike. He believes that his body is trying to extend its control over bone to include his whole structure.
Personality:
Splitmind is a self-professed paranoid schizophrenic, and thus his pre-psychosis personality is difficult to measure. Currently, he spends his time wandering the world, talking cryptically of "messages" and "missions," though these seem to be largely fantasy. He is quite skilled at self-defense, more out of what he feels to be necessity than any enjoyment of fighting.
During his more lucid moments, he's fairly friendly, if single-minded. At times, however, his paranoia flares without much apparent reason, though he will admit later on that he may have been wrong. He thankfully does not suffer from many of the other emotional and logical problems possible for schizophrenics.
Public Knowledge:
Splitmind is wanted for misdemeanors in several countries, mostly breaking and entering, causing a public disturbance, and destruction of public property (specifically, he tore out the bars of a cage holding a panda in transit to a public zoo).
