Powers: The Nova Verdant has astounding regenerative powers and plant control, along with strong genetic capabilities. His psyche is astoundingly different from his pre-eruption personality.

Verdant was once Dr. Philip Rivers, a bioweapons specialist who worked for the United States military. He was, according to the Nova who became Verdant, a man who deserved his own fate. In the Nova Age, Dr. Rivers was a bitter scientist, who was working on creating a biological agent capable of infecting Novas. In a stroke of not unpredictable irony, he was infected by his proto-type agent. According to Verdant, as his brain was dying his nascent node reached out to survive, and duplicated the only living thing in range that was immune to the agent: the grape vine outside his office.

Verdant was born that day, and Dr. Rivers was gone forever, left dead on the floor. Verdant was found hours later by Utopia agents, cultivating a biological lab full of plants happily. Verdant joined Utopia, seemingly just out of desire to help people. He joined Triton for a time, but preferred to work with Team Tommorrow.

In the lab, Verdant is known for his cheery outlook and his uncanny labratory manners. He keeps rigorous track of all manner of minor details in his research, making him one of the most through research associates Team Tommorrow. Verdant is known for his cheery demeanor and love of life, and unwillingness to expend it personally.
