Thanks for the NP and XP windfall.

Omar has resource 5 already. For this timeline, his influence is at 5(normal is 3), and his contacts at 3(normal 1).

It might take me awhile to decide what to get him. Probably some atributes and abilities, enhancements, a few Megas, Some Quantum, and new powers. What and how many, is what will take time.

Aides would be Followers and they go with you, so full price on those.

Ulric, if you want you can recalculate what you already spent and change things accordingly.

PCs or our Crew don't count as allies.

Allies, Contacts, Local Resources, Backing, Influence, Fame, anything of that sort that is specific to a particular timeline costs half price.

Any background that goes with you when you jump costs full price.

Is it okay to buy things at full price in the belief that in alternate timelines, Ulric could rapidly gain such backgrounds in other timelines due to his impressive social abilities? That is what I would like to do.

WOah, I had missed the Exp and NP allotment, thanks! When do you need for us to have our expenditures in to you for the next wave? I.e for stuff that will be usable in the next chpater?

Well, ok then.

Steve has Resources 5, Influence 1 (5 on this timeline), Cipher 2, and Followers 1

I'd like you guys to get me what you plan to spend by next week. I think we will have this chapter wrapped up by then by the looks of things.

I'm planning to jump you forward to the year 2000.

Dun Dun DUNNNN!

seriously though, don't tell us that stuff, it's more fun to find out as we play. IMO anyways

Also since a bunch of us will have local Backgrounds we should give this timeline a name, Earth 616 anyone?

ok, I'm set with my point allocation. I bought all backgrounds at full price. I'm ok with doing more legwork in a new timeline to rectify that again. Fox - Do you want a PM with future plans etc.?

I didn't get resources btw. I can't see her amassing riches. She'd rely more on her Influence and Fame and the good-will of those around her. I hope you can understand that.

When you say jump forward 60 years, dos that mean living through 60 years or Time Jumping to see what happens? Or both? Some of stay and live and look forward to a predetermined time in 60 years when our friends arrive, having just seen us a moment ago...? That last sounds really compelling for storytelling purposes...

IMHO most or all of us are needed just to keep this running.

Adaptability is only 5 or 6 experience, and if you *have* to pay for it just to stay functional (and you do) I've no sympathy at all. smile We have the time, modivation, resources, and big heaps of experience to pay for it.

For that matter, given our resources if someone *truely* doesn't want to pay for adapt he could probably arrange a visit to a temporal manip to be made young.

I have been mulling over when to get Omar, Adaptability. Now is probably the time to get it. He doesn't need it to stay young, but for other reasons.

If you have Mega Stamina at all it changes the way you age, so adaptability isnt strictly necessary. I am going to use regeneration to explain Cody's youthful appearance.

Different Issue:

Andrew, you and Steve will be working together a lot, specifically to put together the q-nuller, but possibly on some of the other quantum black tech.

IMHO *one* of us needs to buy Scientific Prodigy. This sort of thing isn't Steve's strong suit, but it does fall within his "generalist" suite (i.e. 3 dots in science & engineering, 2 in m-int). I've delibrately left 3 nova points out of my calculations so I can pick it up if you don't, but if you're going to pick it up I'll do something else.

I was looking to give Omar either Quantum Imprint or Clone. The Q. Imprint would allow him to borrow whatever powers, attributes, and abilities needed for a situation. Clone...an army of Omars has a certain appeal. Also, some more Mega-App would help with the commercialization of Paragon's image.

I will leave the cerebral pursuits to the others. Give me something to crush, while cameras show the world how tough and handsome I am.

P.S. I will take suggestions however.

Suggestions?

1) Pick up some Psi-Shield. Iron Will doesn't defend you against telepathy, especially if you don't know it's happening. You have secrets now.
2) Mega-Wits: Quick, maybe several levels of it.
3) Hardbody, perhaps other Str & Stamina enhancements. Lifter would probably work well. That Str enhancement which lets you KO people without killing them might be useful.
4) Increase your Armor. Maybe add Superheavy or Imperv to it.
5) I don't know your character well enough to comment on whether Clone and QI present any theme issues.

Neither of those (clone or QI) sound very in theme for Omar. Not that I will reject them if a good rationalization is given, but the suggestions Courier made all sound very good and very in character for Omar to pursue. Again, if you really want one of those powers come up with a good rationalization and I'll consider it, don't want to stop you from having fun with your character.

Also, I suggest some dots in Bureaucracy if you don't already have some, you have run a major world government after all for more than a decade. Same goes for everyone else. I don't think there is a single character that hasn't dealt with some bureaucracy during the downtime.

Ok - lets see if I get everything put together.

It was kinda hard to get all the amazing stuff that Supes has for powers. Fortunately lots of those are enhancements - downside - loads of Megas are necessary to get those. I do believe to have covered almost all bases though.

Got some Mega-App. with the Mrs. Nobody enhancement in case of going "private" and keeping a "normal" life among baselines. (Amazing what some glasses and a braid can do)

Hyperhearing, EM-Vision and Adaptability of course, too.

Then finally Superbreath represented as Immobilize with a freezing effect. I was thinking of a Mega-Str. Enh. like Thunderclap only working as Superbreath (couldn't afford it though, but keeping it in mind as future option)

Raised my Inv. (physical)

Raised my Quantum and got me some Psychic Shielding - hope thats ok.

Backgroundswise I went with Influence and Fame - Allthough I believe that Backing is more appropriate than Influence. I bought both at full costs since I'm planing on staying on Earth for the time jump (i. e. not making the jump but actually living through the years). Those points maybe wasted on a different Timeline, but I'm ok with that - will rebuild my reputation as needed as I go along.

--------------------

Joani will stay on earth for the time jump since she believes she has some catching up to do. Even though she only lost one year it feels more like an entire life to her and she wants to fill that void. Her sense of responsibility also is a high motivator for her to stay and help. Depending on how Ulric plans his future, she would try to build a second Identity as his secretary, bodyguard or maybe even fiancee (he mentioned something of the pubic already thinking he may be gay wink - If he asked her to remedy that picture of him she would oblige.)
Of course she will put all her efforts in representing the Paragons and respond to immediate threats. She'll be all around the world not only using her powers to help humanity but also trying to be a rolemodel for earths people. Something they have to look up to and strive for. She'll be supporting welfare events and organisations but keeps out of political involvement. Basically she pursues the goals we set up for the Paragons.

I'll be adding more after your feedback

I just PMed Fox my purchases.

Cody had a quantum leap in Intelligence. Almost as much in Perception. he is also now one of the most manipulative sonofabitch's on the planet. Watch out for that Disorient. If Id had more points i would have bought it MIRVed and worked out an AP extra for his mind blast.

I did however buy Synergy for his Mega Wits, since he spends so much time working with all of you and also from his gestalt with Michael...would like to explore that more so PM me about it Fox...

He is also now a master of Martial Arts (up from 3) due to sparring with Omar. Likewise with computers from working with Lorean as well as in Tactics from battle simulations.

Background wise Cody was already quite rich. he isnt going for Influence since he prefers to remain in the shadows. he does however now have Cipher and Contacts at 5...at full price. His contacts are now practically a power in their own right since with his skill at Manipulation, Telepathy etc, any contact he needs he can get easy and nonone will really know who was asking.

I'm also working the Mega-Int. route, plus picking up a little Mega-App and Mega-Man. Mainly picking up some skills, a little psychic protection and a few more backgounds.

Overload, you can't get AP on a Mind Blast because MB doesn't have a 'to hit' roll, just a resisted affect roll.

I was planning on something along those lines, I'll let you know once I work out my own expenditures.

Re: Mega-Int
It's a good thing I was planning to buy some anyways otherwise I'd be the dumbest smart guy in the room, sheesh.

If Fox doesn't mind the suggestion maybe we oughta start the next chapter with a small fiction from each person that covers those 60 years and the changes they have on our PCs ... that way we could impart some level of drama into the passing of a human lifetime (or at least a good chunk of one).

thoughts?

RE: Joani
IMHO Psi-Shield is in theme for all of us in the same way that telepathy is. And Joani feeling that she's lost time is true, she didn't just lose her year, she lost a lot of her memories before that.

And speaking of which, did we figure out what the deal was with the Jumper's pet Psiad?

RE: Omar
Superleap would also work pretty well.
RQC on his growth might be brutally effective. He could function for hours and not seconds.

RE: M-Blast+AP
Careful there. AP reduceds soak, not defenses. It's also fueled by your to hit extra succ, and for MB that's always zero.

RE: Steve
Assuming that Andrew goes the M-Int (Scientific Prodigy) route...
1) Steve will get some Psi-Shield.
2) On his Sherlock theme, he'll get "That Creepy Feeling". No one gets to investigate the master investigator without him investigating you.
3) In furthering his generalist theme, he'll complete his collection and get the megas he doesn't already have. Every one of his skills will function at above baseline ability. He'll also upgrade more of them to his quantum limit. This is the bulk of his development and I'm coming close to reaching it's limit.
4) In development of his (largely unwanted) themes given by Hammersmith... he'll do absolutely nothing. I figure he's not practicing them much if at all so after several decades he's still a newbee with them. What can I say, he's been busy.

RE: App Alteration
Question for Fox: As written, Appearance Alteration is a solution in search of a problem. Could Steve use it to alter his apparent age? If so then his public person could age at something appropriate for a baseline.

It would take him a year or two to get around to it, but he would ask (especially if she was acting as his secretary in her secret ID). It will be interesting to see how that relationship matures.

See my last post, if we're zooming ahead 60 years and the PCs are going to be living through it that is stuff that will be old news when the next chapter starts. Legitimately our PCs could have grown children. Members of the group could have grown closer (either romatically or simply as freinds) and others may have grown apart. We have huge potential here for RPing, both in terms of what we write and how things move forward.

Character Fic:
I've got to agree with Andrew. I think a character Fic from each of you would be very appropriate. I won't make it a requirement, but given that we are jumping from 1935 forward to 2000 that's a lot of time unaccounted for. Many many things could happen with your characters in that time. This goes even more so for anyone that is planning to have relationships. Having something for the rest of us to read that spells out what happened would help greatly.

Lorean:
I should probably also add when mentioning that, Lorean is a special case when it comes to relationships; physical Lorean that is. She just doesn't seem to be wired for having monogamous relationships, not that she is promiscuous either understand. It seems to be something in her basic makeup that prevents her from having any desire for a permanent relationship. If any of the crew want to court her during the downtime she would be open to it, but only under the understanding that it was a temporary paring and at most it would last no more than 10 years at a stretch. I know, how weird is that, right? But that is the way she is, and you guys would have realized that over the decades of downtime. Also, given her mega's and overall personality, people will find it very difficult to be jealous or hurt towards her or her partners, especially since they realize that whoever she might be with today, it will only be temporary.

RE: Appearance alteration

Yes, you can use it to alter your 'apparent' age. If you are really 100 with the body and infirmities of a 100 year old, it will not change that fact although to others you may look like you are 30. Vice versa, if you have the body of a 30 year old, you can 'look' like you are 100, but you won't really be 100.

Jumping Forward:

Is there anyone that plans to actually Jump forward? If so how far, and when?

I'd very much like to write a Character Fic - but we also need some input or outline of how history unfolds for the next decades. I'll be waiting for that and for Ulric to flesh things out.

This is really special, I can't tell how much I appreciate being part of this!

Ya, Andrew is right. Relationships, children, over a 60 year period they should come up. We might be to a point where we need to consider NPC wives and children.

I think Steve would ask Joani out after she gets settled. Lorean too for that matter. wink

RE: Children
Steve's in an interesting position there, he did take the sterility drugs (IC I couldn't see a reason not to) so he should be sterile and he thinks he is. However Hammersmith could be read as a reeruption, so it's possible at least in theory that the damage could have been undone without him knowing.

Children?!?!?! ... well

I'm trying to think about what a wedding would be like for Ulric and Joani - say around 1950. The First Couple of the World. The former President of the League. The head of the Paragons. People would be wondering what their kids would be like, were would they live, and who would get invites.

I think Joani and I have some PMing to do.
