With power or enhancement from mega attribute you can reach really high soak, armor, invulnerability, force field ....

Your soak can be so high, even a pretty nice quantum bolt like 5 quantum and 5 power rating will do near nothing

You understand correctly, although even with "Puny Human" rules it's extremely difficult if not impossible to get a soak high enough to ignore ping damage.

However, it is not possible to build something like that with the standard 30 nova points. It probably isn't possible to build something like that for 50. Attacks on the other hand, are fairly cheap... and even really high soaks don't provide immunity from all attacks since there are so many specials (Strobe, Mental Attacks, Social Attacks, Gases, etc).

And then there is also the issue of whether you really want to build a Wall. Is getting that 5th dot of Armor or Forcefield really worth forgoing buying Flight or Teleport?

In general, combat in Aberrant is brutal and short since most characters have a lot more "attack" than "defense".
