Moments before the start of the invasion...

For Origami, it was a normal day. Shopping around looking for supplies for her typing. Ink ribbons, paper, correction fluid, binders... For her it is the tools of the trade.

She's walking down the streets near her home, when the sirens go off.

"Odd... not a cloud in the sky and no Typhoons are predicted..." Just as she thinks this, the sky is blotted out with the shadows of massive airships. Classic Zepplins. Just as she looks up, wondering what the heck is going on, explosions...

The zepplins drop down cannisters, large in size, not caring how they land, after an initial salvo of the ground below. Origami has barely enough time to shield herself in a dome of paper. She peeks out after the first bombardment ceases.

Then the Zepplins start their Psy-ops. Playing as horrid a music that they can find. But this is only serving to snap Origami into a different mood.

They just ruined her perfect day. That, and they just crushed her favorite cafe.

As she opens her dome, the cannisters burst open, revealing soldiers, some equipped with guns, some with swords as well. This was going to be rough.

Origami stands her ground, preparing to show them why she was a Darts champion in her youth.

"Woman! Do not stand in our way! Eithe join us, submit... or perish!"

"I will do none of the above!!!" She shouts, unleashing a stream of knife-sharp index cards, altered by her own power, slicing through the average armor of the troops. As they return fire, she erects paper walls, buying her valuable time to dodge and weave. She seems to be helping the bystanders retreat as well.

Dammit... I'm only one person... Seems that incessant music is jamming all channels. I need to get home... She knows what's there. It's something a genuis who lives in the same area of Tokyo she does has given her... but she needs to get there fast and the number of simple grunts is whittling down while the more elite troops with heavier guns and armor are showing up knowing a Nova was in their midst.

She runs as fast as she can into an alleyway.

"Where did that witch dissapear to?"
"Beats me Jeb... you can't tell what those crazy Japanese ladies will do..."

Oh, you country hicks... you don't know the half...

Just as her pursuers hear her say that, she bursts out of the alleyway, rolling around inside what could be called a paper hamster ball. Knocking aside and knocking out some of the ground forces. Then the ball bounces into the air and opens up.

"A paper airplane!??! Notify the zepplins! SHOOT HER DOWN!"

Origami dodges and weaves, desperately trying to get to her home, then one zepplin fires a shot from it's anti-aircraft cannon. Her eyes open wide form the sound, just as the shell hits. Where she is is consumed in a fireball.

On the bridge of the zepplin, the captain of the ship that fired on her smiles gleefully. "Good... the papergirl is just a flash in the pan... Number one... take us out. We need to support the rest of the fleet!"

The zepplin begins it's turn. But Origami is still in the game. She's parachuting down. She managed to form a coocoon around herself just before the moment of impact. She sees the zepplin turn away.

"Good... you jackbooted thugs... just keep on going... in about 15 minutes you guys are in for a world of hurt..." she mutters under her breath. Not paying attention on her landing.

She snags in a tree, and enjoys a moment of embarassment. She looks over where her house should be. As expected, it was leveled. "DAmn." She un-does her power and falls to the ground. ungracefully landing on her butt.

"Okay... now I AM getting pissed off." She hobbles over to a secret hatch in the bombed out alley that once was behind her home and climbs in.

She makes her way through a labyrinth of corridors after closing up and destroying the entryway behind her. She doesn't want any gophers following her.

Then she finds it. A terminal, on a direct, dedicated line to who she needs to contact. Seperated from the OpNet or any other network, it was designed for an emergency. Like this. She logs in...

Origami straightens herself out as best she could before a face appears on screen.

"Endeavor here... We're damn busy here,s o state your business... wait... Origami? What's your status?"

"Not good, the house is totaled, but this terminal still has power. But the current level is only reading 5% power remaining."

"Damn... okay, take the white tunnel to the pearly gates. Meet me there. We need a counter-assault. Your directive is to take out any interference if they do find the network. Hit the orange button in the shield to destroy that terminal and to melt the lines with the thermite lining. We can't allow them to get access. Do you understand?

"Yeah? What in the blue blazes is going on?"

"War, Kyoko... War. I'm trying to contact Long, but he's tied up fighting alongside Nippontai. I need all the operatives I can swoop up. Now go!"

Kyoko wastes no time, and activates the terminal self destruct. Fire belches out as she runs into the tunnels. In moments the terminal and the lines connecting to it are slagged.

After ten minutes of running, she finally finds the main tunnel that leads to headquarters. While they have been fortified for something on the level of the great Kanto earthquake, she still feels the firefight happening above.

Soon she's at the "Pearly Gates" that lead to headquarters.

She places her hand on a hidden scanner, and the doors unlock. As she steps in, three guards in white, almost stormtrooper-esque guards stop her at gunpoint.

"Itty bitty baby, itty bitty boat!"

Origami snaps back at them... "HABEEB IT!"

The guards smile, lowering their guns. "TWINKIE HOUSE!" They say, patting her on the shoulder. "Sakurako is in the central hive. Hurry up, we need all the protection we can get so we have time for a counterstrike."

Origami wastes no time and runs ahead to the center of the underground headquarters. All the external feeds are down, jammed by the electronic warfare the zepplins have undertaken. All that works are the cameras attached to the dedicated lines infesting Tokyo. Relics from the copper-line era of the internet.

"Kyoko! Over here!" Sakurako is in her pink and white armor, similar to what the guards were wearing, but slightly more bulkier.

"Good, you made it! Long should be in the area soon. Nippontai just took some heavy casualties, hopefully when we start supplimenting the Japanese Defense Forces we can mount a counteroffensive. I need you here to lead the gorund assault. I got a different mission to attend to..."

Origami recognizes the suit Sakurako is wearing. It's spaceworthy. It's her flight-suit for taking her prototype into space. "I assume there is an orbital vector of assault?"

"Yeah... and all conventoinal space force that any nation had has been neutralized. The International space station has been overrun, and communications sattelites across the globe have been destroyed. The Hikari Destiny is all we got..."

Origami looks to Sakurako "Good luck then... I got things here."

Sakurako grabs her helmet and runs off to the doors leading to her hangar.

"She'll need every bit."
