I am looking to update the site and switch things over around the end of the year. There are multiple moving parts to this, so I don't have a fixed date yet.

We've stayed afloat thanks to your efforts. I'm sure with you at the helm we'll keep on sailing.

I am basically just holding things until the next version of the forum software is finished. I am hoping everything will be ready by the end of the month.

The main focus of the new site is to create a community for gamers. The whole purpose of the site is to build a place that everyone feels comfortable in, and then to give the tools to do whatever they need. There is no company, game or product of special importance. The only agenda that the site is trying to do, and the only thing that is of real important is you.

The site will take some time to grow and there will definitely be growing pains along the way. I am very excited about the future for what this site will grow into.

Along with the expanded scope and new domain name, the following additions will be made to the site.

• Added an IRC like /me functionality to the shoutbox.
• The pagination code has been redone to make it easier to jump around forums/topics with multiple pages.
• Abbreviated subjects on the postlist pages will now show the full subject when hovered over.
• Added the capability to email the entire topic to oneself.
• Added the capability to email a Private Message to oneself.
• 'My Stuff' menu option to have it as either a drop down or as a left navigation menu.
• 'My Buddies' is back, but with more functionality. You can check multiple users, and then launch a PM to all selected (within limits). Multiple delete. View Posts and Profile from same screen.
• 'My Feeds' added to enable users to view automatically generated RSS Feeds for the forums they are allowed access to. This also includes their own Private Messages and Active topics/posts.
• Viewmessages (PMs) has been enhanced to additionally include emailing of multiple selected PMs as well as deletion.
• Added a Custom tags which can include video tags like youtube, google video, yahoo video.
• Added subscription functionality.

After we get things going we will introduce blogging to the site.

I have determined that some of the issues the site has been dealing with are unable to be fixed with the current host. Because of this we will be switching servers in the near future. The site will go offline for a couple hours during this process. It will be worth it though.

Hopefully I'll be able to get things ready for this weekend. I'll post the exact time as soon as I can.

We will be switching servers on Sunday. The duration of the down time will vary from person to person, depending on your ISP. You will either see a closed message or the active site.

Some functionality may temporarily change, but I will restore everything to the current settings as soon as I have time to troubleshoot.

We are up and running but I still have a lot to do before we are back to full speed. I'll keep everyone updated on the progress.

Development on the new site is moving along. We are only a few weeks from the expansion.

I am going to go ahead and start cleaning up some of the forums on here to set things up for the expansion. Hopefully this will give you some time to settle into the new layout.

Ok, this is the start. If we can get some more people into the site I'll continue to group things by the game.

I am going to update the setup of the Aberrant games slightly. I am going to make the initial location that you go into the out of character forum. And then the IC forum(s) will be subforums from that. I think it will make it easier for new users that way.

double clicking the yellow topics to mark them as read seems to have some issues for me, it only works some of the time.

I hadn't noticed it until Andrew mentioned but I'm having the same issue.

What OS & browser do you both use? I was able to login with both of your accounts and had no problems in XP using IE & Firefox.

Ok, it took me a while to figure out what is going on. I can explain the problem now, but won't be able to fix it immediately. Those areas have subforums. When you click on the yellow topics you are only indicating that you have read the contents of that forum but not the subforums. If you go into all the subforums and click all the yellow topics the yellow topics on the main forum page will be colorless.

This is a bug. I am not sure when I'll get it fixed. If you want to mark everything as being read, you can always click the "Mark all read" text at the bottom of the page.

I'll post more on this issue when I can get it resolved.

Possible bug/minor problem I discovered:

Is there a time limit as to how far back a post can be made before it cannot be edited anymore? I tried to edit a post I made last week, but the button isn't even on the post anymore. Normally I wouldn't think that would be a problem, but it may become an issue for people who want to update their character sheets without posting them as whole new posts.

I agree with you. The time limit on editing your posts is now set individually by the forum. I had the new forums set to a minimal time limit. That has been modified.

Is HTML on and off in different parts of the site? Special character (the solid dot, useful for character sheets) renders properly in some areas, and not at all in others.

By default html is not on for a forum. It is only active in certain forums for certain levels of people. Any html opens a potential security risk, so I don't allow it for everyone. I did just allow it for the 200X character forum.

I don't always turn on all features for new forums. If you see that is the case just remind me. As long as I haven't intentionally disable something I'll update the permissions ASAP.

The site currently exists in 1 places, nprime.net and the new domain. I don't immediately see any problems with the prime functionality, but that doesn't mean that everything works correctly. I will be working on the new site over the course of the weekend and will keep everyone updated of the progress.

The new domain, rpg-post.com is currently live. Nprime is still doubling the content. I still have more work to do on the new site, but at least it is now live.

The new site looks boss, but I have to admit, I'm starting to feel a little nostalgic, already. Is the intention to lose this domain in favor of the new one? I mean, don't get me wrong, I totally understand that the new domain name fits the new direction of the site.

Yes, the goal is to create the new site of rpg-post.com as the main site. The domain of nprime.net will still exist for a long time. I am not sure if it should link to the main page or an aberrant subpage. nprime.net has diminishing returns based on being a site dedicated to a game that died many years ago. rpg-post.com does not have a time limit.

I like nprime.net as much as anyone. I'm not making this change without putting a lot of thought into it.

I'm glad nprime will be around for a while. I am worried that the rpg-post.com will be blocked from work since it has RPG in the url. I will check it Thur, and hopefully they don't filter based on RPG.

Chosen - the new No Fate board is glitchy - it doesn't appear in the pulldown "hop to" and also it doesn't appear in the progression at the top when you are reading posts in it ... i.e. Forums>>Online Gaming>>No Fate>>Table Talk looks like this instead Forums>>Online Gaming>> >>Table Talk

And that was the first bug discovered from having the site on 2 domains. It should be fixed now. Thanks for pointing that out.

I tried to change my avatar and it wasn't possible. I checked back with the new site and saw that there is a difference - Nprime lets you have 120x150 pixel Avatars, RPG-Host only 80x80.

Even if I try to upload a different Avatar at Nprime it doesn't update and instead loads the old one.

As the shoutbox has pointed out, there is not link to the Chatroom on the rpg-post site.

Found another bug. Well maybe a bug.

When I am reading a post and I click the "RPG-POST" link at the bottom of the page instead of going back to the homepage it just goes to the top of the thread.

I think that's a bug cause NPrime used to dump me back at the Forums main page
