Ralph Johnson Baseline

Ralph Johnson is a young man who is well known in Newborough as Buzz's assistant. He helps the old Nova out less now after Buzz's eruption than he used to but he still provies Buzz with delivery of food and helps to shuttle him across the city when needed.

K.B, Kelly Bolt, Nova

KB (Kelly Bolt) is reasonably well known in Newborough as a Weather controller, Electricity generator, and (probably) Courier’s girlfriend.

Kelly is a nova refugee who was flown in by Courier about four months ago. She and Courier are known to be close and she is one of a number of novas who share a mind link him. She speaks English with a Spanish accent. She does a very good trade with farmers and the people who want electricity (both of whom fortunately for her tend to be rich by current standards). Kelly is a pretty decent haggler; it would appear she got a lot of practice in her previous life. She tends to be a “jack of all trades, master of none” type of person. Apparently she was some sort of nomad before coming to Newborough.

Kelly is a strikingly beautiful Hispanic woman with blue eyes and long platinum blond hair who appears to be in her late teens or very early twenties. She doesn’t have any aberrations and it’s unclear whether her hair is a dye job or an eruption ‘gift’. She wears Eufiber usually configured into white or black leather and carriers a pearl handled handgun and a knife.

Jimmy "Phone" Boothe - Nova - former PC

Jimmy "Phone" Boothe is a young man in his early 20's. He has lived in Newborough his entire life and see's the community as the model for other towns to follow. He is around 5' 10" with light brown hair, fairly thin with bright expressive eyes. He is frequently seen with his thick mechanics clothing walking around town, his expressive face and brown eyes breaking into a smile as he's sees the march of progression in the repaired machines around town.

His father worked in, and eventully aquired totally, one of the more reputable pre-Burn repair shops in the districts. Jimmy learned everything at the shop and his fathers coworkers enjoyed the almost perpetually quizzical boy's company. He was always seen walking around with some rusted hunk of metal, asking his friends if it was a piece of a "hyper combusting engine".

As he grew he worked with his father in the shop and they eventully took it over from the ailing owner. His eruption was quiet and only noticible through his increased health and sizable increase in knowledge and skill. He is well known as the master "Mr. Fix-it" type. Most people who know him bring him their salvage, as he pays well and frequently will sell his refurbished machines to novas at a lower price in return for promises of more tech in teh future. Its a hobby of his he likes to refer to as "Archeotachnology".

He still enjoys working on simple machines. From broken radios to cracked solar panels, he does what he can to help the town improve itself. He also enjoys the company of other novas, finding himself fascinated with their outlooks on life, their views that are totally different from him.

He tries to fit in with his old peers, but he finds them distressingly lacking in vision. He spends what free time he can get with his father, who has recently fallen ill. He is very busy as of late helping with the installation of the new lighting system on the city walls.

Jimmy Boothe has lived in Newbourough his whole life. He's well known as a expert technition, repairman, and collector of pre-Burn goods. He's very active within the city, using his skills and resources to help with its development. He always has an interest in novas and will provide them goods and services at a reduced price in return for favors.

He is liked in the city due to his friendly attitude and utter lack of abberations.

James "Squidward" O'Reily - Aberrant

Little is known of the nova dubbed "Squidward". He displays a mutated arm which appears as a mass on tentacles branching from a main stalk. He has displayed the ability to transmit himself and other matter through space, whether this is traditional teleportation or some other unique power is unknown. Further it would seem that he has a high degree of mental and mental/social stats as well as mastery of telepathy.

Squidward has recently been identified as James O'Reily, the twin brother of Jordan "Jor" "Raider" O'Reily. His father believes him to be completely evil and beyond redemption. His enhanced intellect has been confirmed and he appears to have a great skill at pulling strings and orchestrating complex plots.

He claims that the crashed ship found in "The Delicate Sound of Thunder" is his although evidence supports the claim of the Quebecois scientists. As of the end of "A Saucerful of Secrets" James' plan appeared to have been the creation of a manned rocket. His goal appeared to be the control of a pre-Burn weapons satillite and the weapons it contained. He was injured by the combined attacks of Courier and Calypso and fled the battle to parts unknown.

John - nova?

John or Johnny is a resident of Goodwood and an individual with the unique ability to completely supress/negate all quantum energey within a radius of approximately twenty feet around him. His ability appears to be unconsious and uncontrollable. The negation ability may or may not be a nova ability, and is certainly unique if it is. The null-field is capable of immediately draining any quantum reserve a nova has, negates all powers within their radius and can reduce or eliminate many taint related effects which require constant power. Some aberrations appear to be unaffacted however and the null-field's effect on eufiber and other quantum structures in the long term is unknown.

Robert O'Reily - baseline

Father of James and Jordan O'Reily little is known about Robert thus far. We know that when they were still very young Jordan's mother took him away from Robert and James because she was worried about James' increasingly erratic behavior and his early eruption as a nova. Until recently he was believed to be deceased until he resurfaces with the young nova/aberrant Billy under his care and apparently a mission to take down his son James before he dies. Robert has been afflicted with a wasting disease which apparently was caused by one of James' allies.

Billy - Nova

The childlike Billy possesses a body which has been twisted and warped by the taint within him. His body appears to be round with a great many tentacles emanating from it mush like a sea urchin's spines. Either very young or possessed of a tainted mind, Billy acts and speaks much as a 6 year old would be expected to. He displays an amazing artistic talent and has proven skilled at games as well.

Adam "Bomb" Jeffries - Nova - former PC

Adam 'Bomb' Jeffries is a guy who looks to be in his mid-twenties, with clear Hispanic heritage. His eyes are the color of candle flames, and his head is completely bald - not even eyebrows. He's built like a running back, and is usually dressed in an old bomber jacket and jeans. He's a mercenary, though he doesn't mind working with the city authorities since they pay regularly. Given his powers, he's only hired for jobs where the target is supposed to end up dead, and collateral damage is not an issue. He never talks about his family, and insults about them are quite likely to end up with you on the wrong end of a bombing run.

Buzz Michaels - Nova - former PC

Buzz Michaels is old, very old, one of the few people on earth other than some Novas that was actually there before the Burn. He erupted now at 73, a crotchety old man who is now the very thing that he saw destroy the world when he was a teenager. The town had grown accustomed to old Buzz (often called Buzzkill for his habit of lecturing people). He married after the Burn, but his wife died 10 years later, succumbing to a slow death from radiation. His two sons disapeared later while on a scavenging run. He was valued primarily because of his great recall of basic 21st century stuff, plus people marvelled at his stories of life before the Burn.

He insisted on earning his keep, though he was near useless in a fight, he helped keep a watch in what was thought to be a pretty safe section of the perimeter. While telling his stories to the young guards there they came under attack by Aberrants. The gurds were decimated almost instantly, and as 2 Aberrants approached him, the old man did the only thing he could. He browbeat them. 6 decades of poisonous bile, bitter reprisal, and sorrow poured out of him as he heaped blame on these 2 Aberrants for all that was wrong with their generation. When one actually managed to try and attack he literally gave him a time out and turned off his power. By the time friendly Novas arrived, the 2 Aberrants were sobbing with remorse and meekly allowed themselves to be turned over to the Novas.

Now Buzz is an even more valuable member of the community, he is useful as a diplomat to other settlements to either Novas or to Baselines, as everyone loves to hear from the old man. While not a combative Nova, he is useful in that he can shut down Quantum powers, and Luck seems to favor him. He hasn't gotten any younger from the Eruption, if anything he even looks a bit more crotchety. He dresses in comfortable slacks with lots of pockets, and a thick multi-purpose jacket.

Sebastian Messiah - Nova - former PC

A tall, thin dude with short sandy-blonde hair. His once-fair skin has been tanned by the sun but still has the usual jovial look, he could pass for a well-grown 18 year old. His expression always appears to carry a faint smile even when he is not smiling.

Dresses in a worn brown leather overall, jeans and military style boots which have seen better days. If you meet him outside a civilized area he has a dark cloth tied all around his head leaving only the his dark-blue eyes and nosebridge exposed.

He is always carrying a long bundle, very well encased in a brown blanket-sized cloth strapped to his back.


Sebastian is an orphan. His parents and their whole village died in a bandit attack (or so he has been told as he has no memories of that part of his childhood). He was taken in by a passing caravan and grew up with them doing odd jobs. As he matured he gained the reputation of being the fastest runner around and one fateful day, when entrusted with a solo running delivery of emergency medical supplies he erupted while sprinting away in the wilds.

Ousted from the caravan community where he grew up, after erupting he has been a drifter, explorer and message deliverer. Trusting his speed and invisibility to keep him out of harm's way.

Sebastian disappeared during the raid on James' launch facility, his current status and whereabouts are unknown.

Seven - Nova - former PC

A thin, strangely silent teen stares back at you with her jade eyes, a blue bandanna covering her wild red hair. She's wearing an old army surplus olive drab tee, cargo pants and a khaki trench coat. A men's vest, black with cargo pockets can be seen under the trench coat and she's wearing sandals made from old tires. It's a tossup if you first notice the white gaul scars on her tanned neck from when she was wearing a metal collar - or the cat's tail the same color as her hair that whips softly behind her.

Born mute, Seven was a delver, a child used by some scavengers to crawl through narrow holes in ruins to bring back whatever they could find. Her owner, a scavenger named Don Henry, traded seven packs of cigarettes for her when she was just a small child. After a run in with unknown gunmen, she erupted and escaped from the scavenger's truck.

Calypso - Nova - former PC

As whimsical as the sea she loves so dearly, Calypso has come a long ways from from where she started. The stories she leaves in her wake could easily be about different people though. To one town she brings a glut of fish without pole or net. To another she brings a storm that flattens the huts. How much is true, and how much is exagerration or happenstance...well, who can say? She seems pleasant enough; strolling along and humming a tuneless song. Who knows what lurks underneath that sun-warmed skin though, in the cold, deep trenches of her spirit?

Calypso is a young woman, pretty of face in figure with weatherworn tan skin and deep blue-grey eyes. Her hair is dark brown, almost black, and she wears it loose and long, flowing in the wind as often as not. She dresses in shades of blue and white usually, favoring loose, blousy clothes and long skirts. She always has an oversized watertight skin at her side, worn over her right shoulder.
