Just in case you guys didn't catch the clue. We have a new player who is stepping into the plot at a very fortunate time. The character concept meshed so well with Joani our airhead supergirl that I couldn't resist making the plot just a bit more devious and convoluted.

Welcome aboard and thanks for working your character into the plot in such a fun way. I really love being handed ideas that I can play off of and twist into my plots like this.

Yep, it's really not nearly as complicated as it looks, but until you guys get to the bottom of it, it has to look very ominous from your prospective.

Rather than jumping to the Character Fiction thread, if you guys want to attend the situation with Joani, go ahead and post it in the chapter thread and Joani can move there.

By the way, nice message to the Sphinx Cody, that should do nicely. It will be a day or two at least before you can expect an answer from him. You guys should have plenty of time to deal with both Joani and the robber before then.

I suggest we split. Ulric and Cody go deal with the robber and Andrew and Steve with the bird lady.

Continuing impressions...Should I edit Cody's airhead response? I find it very hard to believe Cody would have made the mistake of thinking she was an airhead when he surrepititiously scanned her...

I know the character was changed in game but it's a glaring plot hole...at least from my perspective since I (via Fox's info to me) first said she wasn't bright...

What I mean is going back a page in the IC thread, Fox himself stated she was an airhead...full of fluff I believe were his exact words. Cody had more than enough time to snoop around and even if she has a cmpartmentalized mind, his surrepititiousness wouldn't have triggered it...

Like I said I know its just an OOC goof that created the bait-and-switch. Mostly I'm just concerned ICly because its not a mistake Cody would have made. It makes him look bad. On the other hand, it would require more than me editing my posts since everyone responded to my mis-information...

...sigh...the perils of group storytelling. Its like as game of telephone gone bad!

It's not a plot hole if she has Psi-Shield and that's the result a failure gives.

Okay...finally getting to the IC stuff...sure was a flurry of posting while I slept!!!

Quote:

"OK, wait. Assume she has a mental shield where anyone reading her comes back with *Airhead*. Our mystery Sphinx would have checked her out mentally, just like we did. And he would have found out exactly what we did, that she's an easily manipulated airhead."

Not only is that a really cool IC special effect for a psychic shield but it explains nicely why Cody was mininformed. The Question...does Joani actually have such a psychic shield?

It's a combination of factors. First, when that was written it was true because that was before Joani was planned to join the game as a character, she was just a pawn then. Second, I have a perfectly reasonable explanation that does not defy game physics that you will learn about once you investigate further, and it doesn't involve her having a psychic shield. wink

Welcome Miss Walters. wink Do you play any other characters we would recognize? How supergirl did you get? How strong is super strong? Eye Lasers? Did you take an aberration: [vulnerability to Kryptonite] or something equivalent?

Thanks for the welcome, Overload +giggles+

I'm new to this forum, so I'd be very surprised if we were acquainted, but I'm very honored to be part of this troupe and meeting you guys. I love your storytelling abilities and hope to keep up with you all.

I'd say I'm as much Supergirl as you can get taking the creation rules into account. I tried to reach a high degree of Supergirls superhuman abilities using enhancements (like Lifter für Mega-Strength), and powers like Flight and Hyperspeed (paired with the Fast Task Mega-Dex enh.) and Invulnerability, of course.
Talking about hard facts she "only" has Mega-Str 2 (but I think Lifter is a good enh. to roleplay, that she can really make a difference if she exerts herself) - her combat style isn't about doing damage, rather than preventing it/disabling enemies. But I do have Eye Lasers as a QB-Variant.

Since she is not tainted - no aberrations... yet smile I suppose Fox will make the right decisions, should I ever get that far, with his pick of aberrations for me. The mentioned vulnerability is a good example for a start.

(this is all ooc, of course. Hope I haven't spoiled anything now?)

Yes Fraulein Willkommen! Greetings from sunny California!

I asked about other alias's because it is common on the forum for the same player to have multiple characters...all with their own accounts... So it can be a little schizo sometimes in the threads.

Have you read our entire story from the beginning??? That is quite a feat! Pretty epic huh???

As for her abilities, did you take invulnerabilty with the broad categories extra? For 10 Nova points one can be 1nvulnerable to energy and physicsl sttacks to the tune of + 6 soak. those same 10 NPs could have bought 3 dots in armor or 4 if two were tainted. That gives you + 9 soak that covers physical and energy, or +12 if you go with the taint.

The next level up would be 20 points for invuln/broad category/both which would give +12 soak. With Armor and a point of taint those same 20 points gets you +21 soak.

P.S. Whay ever did you underline the last two letters of my name??

I haven't quite read all entries, but from chapter 4 on basically yes. And I love the story so far!

I haven't gone with your example but Inv with broad catagory physical is part of my powerset. I also went for Armor with the superheavy extra. Its true that your example is more effective but I'm not that much of a rulesmonger/minmaxer. I believe it'll do good enough for the time being, at least no baseline will stand a chance.

Last but not least, I was refering to the practical joke calling you Overlord by mistake as I understood. Similar to addressing me as Mrs. and not Ms. Walters (now don't make me angry, you wouldn't like me when I'm angry...)

Joani, as soon as you scan the two of us you will see that the short fat sweaty guy has no internal structure, no bones, organs, etc. He may as well be a foam cut-out of a man.

And I've updated Steve "The Character's" entry.

Question: Is/was Jeffery one of the crew?

Steve is making some assumptions here, but he has two dots of both Mega-Int and Mega-Perception with a lot of abilities back those up, I'm figuring he's figuring things out.

Thank you.

She's not suspicious, she knows. And Steve knows that she knows. Rather than make her work for it (so that she knows he knows she knows), he's offering a bit of an opening to see to what degree she wants to deal with this openly.

Re: Overload...get it now. I had forgotten about that mistep.

Re: Character descrips: I need to update mine too. Maybe its time I finally got around to that fic.

Re: Germany: Before the Great War Germany wasn't so much a unified country as many different sovereign states. My great grandfather was a Royal Grenadier for the Baron of Saxony. Just before the Great War the Kaiser (Willhelm IIRC) was basically consolidating the States into the modern form of Germany we know today.

Unfortunately those who didn't toe the line were being persecuted and the Kaiser was essentially dethroning the ruling noble houses. Fearful for his family my Great Grandfather took his wife and moved to San Francisco in 1904, just 2 years before the Great EarthQuake and Fire of 1906.

My Grandmother was born just up the hill from where I live now, in 1916. She was the last full blooded German in my family, marrying into the Celtic Floyd family. She is still alive and spry at 91 years of age. The flat where she lived from her earliest years still stands and is occupied to this day. Apowerful reminder of the brevity of our human lifespans. 91 years is not so long after all.
